Job Summary:
An exciting opportunity is now available for a dynamic market leader to lead our Wealth Management business in the Orange County region. The ideal candidate will lead a talented team of experts in delivering our holistic offering to clients related to investment management, trust and estate planning, and private banking.
We are seeking an energetic professional with a demonstrated track record of successful market leadership to oversee, plan and direct activities for the team, ensuring resources are available to accomplish the business objectives. Additionally, the Senior Managing Director will lead, mentor, coach, recruit, as well as partner to outline overall strategy to reporting managers and employees. This individual will work to attract and retain high-quality talent who contribute to excellent client outcomes and overall business growth. This role is responsible for leading and fostering an environment of development, accountability, mutual respect and teamwork that encourages the dedication and loyalty of employees and clients alike. This role will lead business development and growth activities and will have full accountability for team performance and profitability.
This role includes direct oversight for an impressive team of experienced wealth management advisors as well as matrix management for some employees within those markets that may report through their respective practice areas. This role is vital to the success of our wealth management business in the West Region. This leader is an integral part of the West Region Leadership Team.
Major Duties:
Accountability for overall performance of respective market including setting and executing, in collaboration with other leaders, vision for excellence, while incorporating specific strategic plans and objectives of the corporation, business unit and region. This includes accountability for performance management for partners within their hierarchy.
Provide leadership, mentoring, coaching and guidance to staff, fostering an environment which encourages inclusion, employee participation, collaboration, teamwork, and communication. Attracting and retaining talent is a critical priority.
Responsible for client interactions and communications, monitors retention of current clients and broadening of relationships, and may address specific sensitive or complex client needs.
Responsible for expense budgets.
Promote, lead, and participate in attaining sales goals for new business in conjunction with West Region sales and marketing leadership. Engaged in the community representing the Northern Trust brand and sourcing in new business.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in wealth management leadership roles along with deep knowledge and expertise in trust, banking, and investment management and wealth advisory services.
- Successful track record of managing a business (a P&L) and delivering an outstanding client experience.
- Candidates should have a demonstrated track record of success in business development and market growth.
- Previous experience with Change Management and leading/implementing change.
- Proven track record in recruiting and developing top talent.
- Ability to outline and drive strategic growth.
- Demonstrated experience of deep community involvement including but not limited to board service.
- Proven leadership and organizational skills to determine goals, resource needs, and to assess and develop the skills of staff.
- Excellent relationship, influencing, decision making, and critical thinking skills are required.
- Strong academics, with an advanced degree and relevant credentials preferred.
Salary Range:
$236,555 - 414,115 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
