This role will lead Jencap’s Technical Leads who are the Design Authority and Application Technology leads for insurance related IT projects. The individual shall be responsible for ensuring the team follows overall technical and application architecture for all applications within Jencap, work assignments, and expected to set high to mid-level technical direction, provide technical solutions working with technology, business and Jencap partners.

This Role will work a hybrid schedule in our NY Office. 

Architecture and Technical (Key)

  • Leadership – experienced in leading teams in implementation complex applications
  • Team management – ability to manage internal and external resources
  • Business Analysis – synthesizing information gained from Jencap business and technical colleagues on strategy, objectives, priorities and operating models
  • Systems Planning – experience in information system planning / IS strategy / application selection work e.g. defining application design for complex, multi-site, multi product organizations
  • Technical Design and Implementation – hands-on expertise in designing, leading complex enterprise technical platforms; including cloud, vendor & third-party solutions, integrations, application security, messaging, XML & JSON, REST & SOAP

Insurance (Advantageous)

  • Functional Understanding – understanding of all or a significant proportion of the following subject areas:
  • Insurance related experience including working on Policy, Placement systems advantageous.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of enterprise reference data – like customer, account, security etc
  • Demonstrable experience in Straight-Through Processing (STP) – ideally in the Insurance sector.
  • Large Systems Implementation – project implementation experience, acting as an architect or technical lead on insurance or financial systems
  • General Information Architecture is a plus
  • Business Analysis - synthesizing core information needs from business processes and requirements
  • Data Modeling – experience with logical data modeling and detailed modeling of inter-application data flows to element level
  • XML & JSON - exposure to using XML and JSON messaging standards such as ACORD
  • Reference Data – experience with the use of centralized reference data sources

Overall, Skills

  • Project leadership and technical design authority for all projects
  • The candidate should possess very good architecture and design skills, modeling experience and ability to communicate with highly skilled application teams
  • Work with external vendors, evaluate products, conduct POCs as required by the project
  • Assist in defining, implementing and overseeing technical standards, policies and tools
  • Conduct reviews to ensure that Jencap standards are being followed, and that work is of an acceptable quality.
  • Assist in the estimation of effort and cost of IT projects.
  • Reviews, walkthroughs and workshops at all key stages of the project lifecycle
  • Support the creation and continuous evaluation/improvement of technical development standards.

Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • 10+ years industry experience

This is a high impact role: Candidates should have a mix of end-user and consulting experience, ideally in Insurance.  The candidate should possess very good Java, cloud & design skills and ability to communicate with highly skilled application teams. The role requires significant multi-tasking, a broad business perspective and conceptual thinking to solve ambiguous problems.  Candidates also need to apply substantial depth of knowledge/experience to drive through change.

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. Discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded.
