The role
This engineering leadership role will build and manage a new AI engineering team with the mission of bringing the value of AI to SoFi Members. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of success in leading and managing high-performing engineering teams, as well as a deep understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) systems. This role is well suited for high-ownership leaders who are focused on creating incredible new consumer products using AI.
What you’ll do:
- Manage a team of engineers in the development and implementation of AI/ML solutions for SoFi products
- Collaborate with senior leaders and other stakeholders to identify and prioritize AI/ML initiatives
- Set high standards for quality and on-time delivery.
- Recruit, grow, and retain top engineering talent
- Ensure that the team is operating in an agile and efficient manner
- Partner with other engineering teams to ensure that AI/ML solutions are integrated seamlessly into SoFi's products and services
- Stay up-to-date on the latest AI/ML technologies
- Evangelize AI/ML within SoFi
What you’ll need:
- Strong experience with or demonstrated passion/skill for AI engineering work
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field
- 6+ years of Software Engineering experience
- 3+ years management experience
- Deep programming experience
- Experience managing multiple teams of engineers, and coaching and growing leaders
- Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL or Postgres)
- Experience working in a collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requests
- Passion and expertise for tools and technology
- Affinity for solving problems and shipping impactful features, not polishing perfect code or architecture
Nice to have:
- Experience building products in a highly regulated industry
- Knowledge of data privacy, security, and compliance considerations in AI-driven products
