The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $142,400 - $178,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
Tasks and Qualifications:This is What You Will do in This Role:
- Lead, manage and coach a team of Development Engineers to deliver cost effective, reliable material handling products to meet requirements for the internal and external business customers including ease of manufacture, installation, and serviceability.
- Participate in the development and implementation of strategic and tactical plans to achieve on-time delivery of products through resource management including interns and outside contractors as needed and approved.
- Build international partnerships to extend consistent standards during a period of growth and future stability.
- Create and maintain a feedback loop for customers at all levels to ensure day to day job tasks are meeting expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement and lean initiatives.
- Maintain culture and external team partnerships across all levels of Dematic to bring team visibility and team engagement.
- Run engineering groups in the region to function as first line of Dematic R&D Engineering regional project support for technologies developed in other DEM regions.
Project/Product Delivery:
- Ensure that products are executed by their teams are on schedule and on budget while meeting requirements and quality targets.
- Weekly touch points and monthly evaluation and reporting of product status
- Accurate monthly forecasting
- Establish appropriate tasking.
- Identify skills gap assessment, appropriate skills assignment, and make plans to close knowledge gaps.
- Maintain safety & compliance standards and communication.
- Proactively drive capacity planning through innovative demand sourcing
- Issue resolution or conflict resolution; escalations with appropriate level of context and detail along with recommended actions when appropriate.
- Ensuring products comply with changing environmental, safety and governmental requirements of each region product is applied within by Dematic, while finding the most practical, cost-effective ways of doing so.
Financial Responsibility:
- Awareness of budget plan and ensuring that daily management decision is aligned (training hours, OT, indirect vs direct), initiative-taking management.
- Awareness of Strategic Plans and what their team’s responsibility is for achieving those goals.
- Managing Team and Individual expenses
- Manages workload to product budgets and risk mitigation.
Strategic and Tactical Initiatives/Projects:
- Driving improvements for the greater of larger department from strategic initiatives. Be a change agent.
- Drive Process Improvement, increase team performance, metrics and build team/group cohesion.
- Create effective business presentations.
What We are Looking For:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (at minimum, Mechanical Engineering Preferred) Advanced degree is a plus.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of engineering and engineering people leadership experience
- Experience with multi-site engineering management is a plus.
- Material Handling Industry Experience strongly preferred.
- Product Development Experience
- Controls technology exposure is a plus.
Skills:
- Excellent leadership, teamwork, influencing, mentoring, coaching and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical, organization and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills including demonstrated stand-up presentation skills, group facilitation and ability to effectively interact with customers.
- Advanced ability to interact effectively in a team-based organization and with employees of all levels and backgrounds across all functions.
- PC skills with demonstrated knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Ability to work individually and under minimal supervision to include a mixture of both remote and office environments leading distributed workforce.
- The ability to effectively manage multiple and conflicting high-level business problems simultaneously under time constraints.
- Travel up to 20% to the customer site, other Dematic offices or identified locations for meetings, training, and business needs. Passport required for travel out of the country as needed.
- NX and Teamcenter experience preferred.
- Experience using SAP for materials, order and time tracking preferred. SAP 4 Hana experience is a Plus.
