What you’ll be doing

As the Sr. Manager Portfolio Operations (Finance/Compliance/Governance) within Capital Markets Technology, you'll provide support to technology management, project and non-project team members. You'll be responsible to manage the Direct Financial Services ASG (Alternate Solutions Group) technology portfolio operations for a large and fast paced capital markets work environment. You will be reporting and work closely with the Director of Portfolio Operations by supporting team members within and outside the portfolio, including technology partners, vendors/suppliers and business teams.

How you’ll succeed

  • Diligence and Accuracy – Oversee and manage portfolio finance (projects, DOE) plus its associated reporting. Contract and vendor management including SOW definition, negotiation. Manage portfolio compliance, audit oversight support and portfolio roadmap management. Be detail oriented and demonstrate strong leadership by being a role model in maintaining and tracking portfolio financials, vendor contracts; performing compliance reporting, governance and conducting necessary data presentation
  • Tracking & Reporting – Track and reconcile financials ensuring resolution of anomalies, update and reconcile latest estimates ensuring actuals to plan, make decisions and recommendations escalating as appropriate. Manage portfolio operations support functions
  • Interpersonal relationships - Support contract management and vendor relationship management. Utilize knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for working with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner. Demonstrate Ability to express oneself and communicate with others; recognizing that verbal and written communication is more than just language - it includes tone, style and structure.
  • Creative Thinking and Problem Solving - Enhance existing process as well as define new processes, while collaborating and liaising with other Business Management, Finance, Corporate Services, Audit, Governance and Compliance groups. Apply knowledge, factual information and problem solving strategies to identify, develop and analyze new opportunities, process improvements and solutions. You will support your teams by having strong knowledge of CIBC governance and control plans, auditing and compliance to comply with CIBC best practices.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience with: 2+ years in a comparable role with similar functions and accountability; 5+ years hands on experience in various facets of project/portfolio management within PMO/BMO or Finance. We’re looking for a Passionate “go-getter” type individual who takes pride in their work while also focusing on team success. It’s an asset if: You are adept at managing ambiguous work, strategic thinking/execution, strategy development, novel initiative work planning, communication and implementation. Ideally, you have extensive financial industry and vendor-contract management knowledge and experience.
  • Additionally: management reporting including assist the team with PowerPoint decks as well as any other adhoc activities relating to Business Effectiveness would be ideal
  • You have a degree in: Business, Technology, Engineering (any discipline) or equivalent.
