Sr. Manager, Platform Engineering, IT

Key Areas of Responsibilities

• Prepare OS standard builds and test in-house tools on latest OS versions for RedHat Linux, Microsoft Windows and VMware products

• Review Storage and Database build standards and current practice

• Provide L3/L4 support for complex infrastructure and application issues across Linux, Windows, Kubernetes, VMware, DB, Storage and related platforms

• Deliver expert-level troubleshooting, issue resolution, and system optimization to ensure high availability and performance

• Collaborate with IT teams to resolve network, storage, and application issues

• Conduct performance tuning for diverse hardware platforms and operating systems to optimize resource utilization and system response times

• Evaluate new technologies and tools; lead Proof of Concept (PoC) initiatives to assess their applicability and benefits for the existing platform

• Analyze current infrastructure to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement; propose and implement optimization strategies

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and improve infrastructure solutions aligned with business needs

• Review and approve design plans, specifications, and technical documentation

• Ensure design documentation meets regulatory and compliance standards

• Engage with senior management to communicate technical strategies, project status, and risk mitigation plans

• Lead or participate in projects related to infrastructure upgrades, deployment, automation, and modernization initiatives

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, procedures, incident reports, and knowledge bases

• Analyze system and application data to identify trends, optimize performance, and support capacity planning

• Implement automation and scripting solutions for infrastructure optimization

Requirements

• Degree holder in IT/Engineering or relevant disciplines

• Around 10 years of related experience in infrastructure and application components

• With certifications like Prince, PMP would be preferred

• Proven expertise as a Redhat Linux administrator with extensive hands-on experience.

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows server environments and virtualization technologies, particularly VMware

• Practical experience with container orchestration and management using Kubernetes.

• Deep understanding of Storage and databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MSSQL etc.)

• Expertise in performance tuning of hardware and operating systems across different platforms

• Ability to evaluate and conduct PoCs of new technologies and tools to enhance platform capabilities

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to articulate technical concepts to senior management and to collaborate across teams

• Strong data analysis and management skills, with the ability to interpret and leverage data for decision-making.

• Project management experience, including planning, execution, and stakeholder coordination

• A proactive, problem-solving attitude with a passion for technology and innovation.

Additional requirements

• Experience with databases and storage platform

• Experience with automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible).

• Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience in Systems and Technical documentation

• Proficient in anchoring meetings, documenting minutes.

• Excellent communication skills in English, with Chinese proficiency is a plus
