DESCRIPTION:

How you will make an impact

This Senior Manager role leads Data Governance implementation and is central to advancing the enterprise data governance strategy. The role partners directly with business leaders to operationalize governance practices that ensure enterprise data is trusted, well-managed, and ready to support AI.

This role serves as a strategic partner to business and technology leaders, helping translate data governance principles into practical capabilities embedded within day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives. The position focuses on enabling business data owners and data stewards to successfully implement governance practices that improve data quality, transparency, and accountability across the organization.

Success in this role requires balancing governance theory with pragmatic implementation—meeting teams where they are in their data maturity journey while steadily advancing enterprise data management capabilities.

This role will engage stakeholders across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership and Vice President–level stakeholders, to influence adoption of data governance practices that support enterprise analytics, digital transformation, and AI initiatives.

Key areas of impact include:

  • Enabling business teams to implement sustainable data governance capabilities and stewardship models
  • Ensuring enterprise data assets are reliable, well-defined, and suitable for analytics and AI
  • Driving adoption of governance practices that improve data quality, transparency, and accountability
  • Advancing enterprise data culture, literacy, and stewardship across the business

What you will do

Partner with business leaders, data owners, and data stewards to implement data governance capabilities that support strategic business initiatives and enterprise data programs.

Translate enterprise data governance frameworks into practical processes and operating models that can be adopted within business functions.

Support the development of governance operating models that enable federated ownership while maintaining enterprise standards.

Stakeholder Engagement and Influence

Build trusted partnerships with business leaders, analytics teams, data platform teams, and technology organizations to promote adoption of governance practices.

Educate stakeholders on the value of data governance and how trusted data enables better decision making, operational efficiency, and innovation.

Engage with leaders across the organization—including senior directors and vice presidents—to align governance initiatives with strategic priorities.

Influence stakeholders without formal authority to drive adoption of governance practices and stewardship responsibilities.

Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders navigating data challenges related to analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives.

Data Governance Capability Implementation

Collaborate with business and technology teams to implement core data governance capabilities, including:

  • Business data definitions and standardized data terminology
  • Data ownership and stewardship models
  • Data quality monitoring and dashboards
  • Data issue identification and resolution processes
  • Metadata management and data catalog adoption

Help business stakeholders integrate governance practices into operational workflows and decision-making processes.

Ensure governance capabilities support scalable data management and improved data reuse across the organization.

Data Quality and Data Culture

Partner with stakeholders to identify data risks, quality gaps, and process improvement opportunities that impact business performance.

Support the design and implementation of data quality checks, monitoring processes, and remediation workflows.

Promote a culture in which data is treated as a strategic enterprise asset.

Serve as a data governance champion and change agent, helping teams understand both the importance and practical benefits of effective data governance.

Change Leadership and Continuous Improvement

Drive adoption of data governance through coaching, training, and practical implementation support.

Share best practices across the organization related to successful governance implementation and stewardship practices.

Identify organizational barriers to effective data governance and work collaboratively to develop practical solutions.

Continuously evolve governance approaches to meet the needs of a complex, federated enterprise environment.
