GENERAL OVERVIEW OF THE JOB:   

The Integrated Marketing Senior Manager oversees a team of field marketing managers and marketing channel specialists that develop and manage omni-channel campaigns in support of short and long-term sales objectives.  They are responsible for managing and developing targeted marketing campaigns that use paid advertising, earned media, sales promotion, as well as digital and social media to attract new producers, deepen loyalty and engagement with existing producers, and continue to strengthen the reputation of American Equity in the industry and community.  The incumbent is a critical member to the marketing leadership team and is heavily influence the creative, product marketing, marketing technology, and marketing analytics roadmaps.

**Position sits in West Des Moines, IA, working a hybrid onsite schedule**

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Plans for long -range growth of all distribution channels and the marketing department by reviewing past campaigns performances and seek future improvements.
  • Manages the agile team priority workflow of the Integrated Marketing team, including embedded creative staff.
  • Determines strategy and negotiates with media (print and digital) to determine where and when paid investments occur.
  • Collaborates with extended sales, marketing and other teams to create the overall pre-appointment strategy, product promotion, and loyalty engagement strategies.
  • Strategizes and develop custom marketing solutions for distribution leaders based on episodic opportunities with key IMO or BD partners
  • Conceptualizes and develops unique multi-channel innovative big ideas across print, digital, events, mobile, social media, video, to meet distribution and product goals, deadlines and budgets
  • Responsible for the continued professional development of channel specialists (social, email, web, direct mail, events) to continually increase impact and improve ROI/ROE of marketing efforts.
  • Partners closely with Marketing Analytics to ensure data-driven decisions drive prioritization of marketing efforts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

4-10 direct reports including Marketing Managers, Writers and Designers

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, preferably in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of related marketing strategy experience, including experience leading teams; preferable experience leading managers.
  • Experience in financial services required
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more marketing channel (SEO, Email, Web, Social) required, Saleforce Marketing Cloud experience highly desired

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more marketing channel (SEO, Email, Web, Social) required
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; deep knowledge of sales channel models and centers of influence in each.
  • Experience creating and implementing integrated content strategies across multiple channels, e.g. digital, social, email, paid media, and print.
  • Experience developing content and digital journeys on websites, social media, online advertising and email campaigns.
  • Demonstrated skill in cultivating high performing teams
  • Experience leading Agile marketing teams
  • Familiarity with the financial services industry, especially insurance or annuities, required.
  • Marketing software skills including Microsoft office, Marketing Cloud, and Adobe.

Travel up to 50% required.
