Primary Purpose
The Manager - Governance & Operations oversees governance and operational aspects of the Technology Hosting Services team, ensuring optimal resource utilization, capacity management, financial planning, and compliance with regulatory and security requirements. This role involves liaising between technical teams, finance departments, and senior leadership to drive informed decision-making and implement governance on cost management, forecasting, policy management, and security compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement FinOps strategies to optimize technology expenditures.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Analyze consumption patterns, identify cost abnormalities, and create financial models.
  • Design chargeback/showback models and generate financial reports.
  • Oversee capacity planning and monitor resource utilization.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and maintain governance frameworks.
  • Coordinate with security, audit, and compliance teams to address requirements.
  • Implement best practices for resource use and manage escalations.
  • Generate executive-level presentations and status updates.
  • Oversee hardware and software capacity tracking and lifecycle management.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of technology assets and coordinate with asset management, lifecycle management, and procurement teams.
  • Work with Architecture, Platform Engineers, and DevOps teams to operationalize security policies.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of IT experience, with 3+ years in governance, capacity management, or financial operations.
  • 4+ years in Financial Management with cost management tools.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and budget management.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools like Excel and PowerBI.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Experience managing operations in complex technology environments.
  • FinOps Foundation certification or equivalent experience. Hands-on experience with IT financial management tools.
  • Experience with large-scale virtualized environments and multiple operating systems.
  • Background in database management and enterprise storage technologies.
  • Knowledge of middleware systems, container technologies, and Cloud Services.
  • Experience in supporting governance functions and managing budgets.
  • Strong analytical background and experience with security compliance programs.
  • Experience with billing and cost management tools and processes.
  • Experience in cost management tactics and applying them at scale.
  • Prior experience with FinOps Optimization Framework and AWS Well-Architected Framework. Ability to bridge finance and technology and conduct user training sessions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Appropriate Risk, Audit, IT Security qualifications desirable.
  • Master's degree and ITIL certification preferred.
