We are hiring a leader whose primary charter is to own the economics behind our delivery, marketplace and florist-facing businesses. This role centers on rigorous economic modeling, pricing & fee-structure design, and direct ownership of sales targets and the models that produce and validate them. The Director will build and maintain the unit economics, run deep analysis on fees and incentives, set and cascade sales targets, and translate economic insight into executable go-to-market and commercial recommendations. Role will partner closely with Sales, Finance, Product, Operations and Commercial Leadership.
Key responsibilities
- Owner of Sales Targets & Economics. Set methodology and own the end-to-end process for establishing sales targets (annual / quarterly / territory), including bottoms-up modeling, top-down allocation, target optimization, and regular reforecasting. Partner with Sales leadership to translate economic models into achievable, incentivized targets and commission structures.
- Advanced economic modeling. Build and maintain granular unit-economics and contribution-margin models (per-order economics, shop economics, channel economics). Model LTV/CAC, payback curves, sensitivity to volume, and margin impacts across scenarios.
- Fee & pricing strategy. Lead deep, quantitative analysis of all fee structures (per-order fees, commissions, fixed subscriptions, tiered pricing, promotional allowances, or hybrid models). Design, simulate and recommend fee structures and incentive rules that optimize long-term profitability, adoption, and growth.
- What-if & causal analysis. Run what-if scenarios, counterfactuals, elasticity and causal analyses to quantify the impact of pricing, rate changes, incentives, and policy changes on revenue, margin and retention. Design experiments and interpret results to de-risk pricing changes.
- Forecasting & decision support. Own forecasting cadence for the businesses you support (monthly/quarterly), provide variance explanations, and present executive-ready outlooks and trade-offs to senior leadership and the Board.
- Commercial partnership. Act as the economics/business partner to Sales, Marketplaces and Commercial Ops — translate modeling outcomes into pricing playbooks, negotiation guides, and go-to-market recommendations.
- Analytics platform & tools. Deliver robust dashboards and self-service models (Power BI/Sigma/Tableau + parameterized modeling in SQL/Python/R/Excel) so commercial and finance teams can evaluate scenarios in real time.
- Team leadership & capability building. Recruit and lead economists and senior analysts; establish modeling standards, QA processes, and documentation to ensure reproducibility and stakeholder trust.
- Strategic input. Inform long-term strategy using competitive economics, market sizing, and ROI analysis for investments (e.g., Delivery Service Providers scale, marketplace expansions, pricing tiers).
- 8+ years of experience in business analytics, FP&A, or corporate strategy with significant hands-on modeling experience.
- Deep expertise designing and maintaining complex financial and pricing models (unit economics, elasticity, LTV/CAC, scenario analysis).
- Demonstrated ownership of sales targets or commercial forecasting—experience setting targets, aligning them with commercial leadership, and iterating based on actuals.
- Strong quantitative and causal inference skills (econometrics/experiment design), including hands-on experience with SQL and a programming language for analytics (Python/R) and advanced Excel.
- Excellent communication skills: able to present complex economics simply to senior executives and commercial stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s in Economics, Finance, Applied Math, Statistics or related field.
Preferred / nice-to-have
- Experience with delivery logistics, marketplace platforms, or DSP economics. Prior experience building pricing playbooks and incentive designs for distributed partner networks (franchise, marketplace, or multi-partner ecosystems).
- Familiarity with Sigma/Power BI/Tableau for executive dashboards and modeling front-ends.
The expected salary range for this position is $145,000 to $160,000 yearly. The actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by the law.
