NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Sr Manager, Design & Development based in our Daytona, Florida office.
This person will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and construction of improvements to NASCAR owned and operated facilities. Including, but not limited to racetracks, retail development, commercial, residential, aviation, and research and development facilities. You will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure that projects meet safety standards, technical requirements, and client specifications. Additionally, you will manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to deliver high-quality projects that meet the needs of corporation.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Project Management: Manage and lead a team to develop plans and construct projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with architects, engineers, and all stakeholders to develop innovative and functional designs that meet the project goals, budget, and schedule constraints.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs comply with relevant safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
- Site Analysis: Conduct thorough site evaluations and feasibility studies to assess the suitability of potential design solutions to meet project goals.
- Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop project budgets, cost estimates, and financial forecasts. Monitor expenditures throughout the project lifecycle to control costs and maximize efficiency.
- Contract Management: Negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors. Review contract terms and conditions to ensure alignment with project objectives and mitigate risks.
- Construction Oversight: Supervise construction activities to ensure that work is carried out according to design specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols. Address any issues or delays that arise during the construction process.
- Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes to assess the integrity and functionality of racetrack infrastructure, including track surfaces, barriers, signage, and facilities.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain regular communication with project stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, and community members. Address concerns, provide updates, and solicit feedback to support project success and foster positive relationships.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Proactively address safety hazards, environmental concerns, and other risk factors to ensure the successful completion of projects.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Percent of travel required: 20%
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of consultants, design professionals and contractors on various projects.
Required skills/experience:
- In-depth knowledge of site development and design principles, safety standards, and regulatory requirements for building and civil infrastructure projects.
- Technical proficiency in CAD software, engineering design tools, and project management software.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects with competing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to travel and work onsite at project locations as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Proven experience in project management, budgeting, and scheduling for construction.
- Experience with Sports and entertainment venues or similar a plus.
