Built on a 70-year plus commitment to science and research, Ferring is relentless in its pursuit of science that drives powerful discoveries and therapies to help people build families, stay healthy, and stand up to the world’s oldest enemy: disease.

The Senior Manager, Commercial Learning & Development – Orthopaedics will lead the design, development, facilitation, and measurement of commercial training programs supporting the Orthopaedics portfolio. This role is responsible for ensuring the field organization is fully prepared to execute brand strategy through effective onboarding, continuous learning, and launch excellence—most critically supporting the launch of a future product.

This position partners closely with Brand Marketing, Sales Leadership, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Commercial Operations to identify learning needs, translate strategy into actionable training strategy, and deliver programs that enable compliant, high‑impact performance in the field. The role will support both new product launches and in‑line brands, while also overseeing large‑scale initiatives such as national meetings, plan‑of‑action meetings, and learning solutions around micro-learning and other pull through strategies.

The Senior Manager will provide training and coaching, conduct ongoing needs assessments, and leverage insights from field engagement to continuously evolve the learning strategy. This role also plays a key leadership role in preparing the organization for launch readiness, including disease state education, product knowledge, selling skills, and cross‑functional execution.

With Ferring, you will be joining a recognized leader, identified as one of “The World’s Most Innovative Companies” by Fast Company, and honored by Fortune with inclusion on its “Change the World List,” for addressing society’s unmet needs. Ferring US is also Great Places to Work® Certified, distinguishing it as one of the best companies to work for in the country.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and facilitation of product, disease state, marketplace, and selling skills training across all phases of the commercial learning lifecycle, including onboarding, continuous development, and launch execution.
  • Own launch training strategy and execution for Orthopaedics, with direct accountability for preparing the field organization for the future launch brand, including curriculum development, national launch meetings, and post‑launch reinforcement
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Marketing, Medical, Sales Leadership, Market Access, and Commercial Operations to conduct needs assessments and translate brand strategy into effective learning solutions.
  • Project‑manage training curriculum development, including:
    • Gap and opportunity identification
    • Content creation and instructional design
    • Vendor selection and management
    • Budget oversight
    • Communication to key stakeholders
    • LMR Submission of workshops and content
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Commercial Learning & Development and Instructional Design leadership to build and maintain long‑range learning curricula, including blended learning and e‑learning solutions aligned to Orthopaedics business objectives.
  • Ensure standardization and governance of training processes, including curriculum management within LMS platform.
  • Measure training effectiveness by incorporating metrics into program design and leveraging platforms such as LTW to evaluate outcomes and inform continuous improvement.
  • Provide representative coaching, including:
    • New hire support
    • Targeted events to develop product knowledge and selling skills
    • Ongoing observation to stay current on marketplace dynamics
  • Train and coach Area Trainers and field training partners to ensure consistent facilitation, effective gap identification, and high‑quality feedback for both new and tenured representatives.
  • Support district, regional, and national training initiatives to address geographic and performance‑based learning needs.
  • Lead training support for National Sales Meetings, POA meetings, and launch‑related commercial forums.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of commercial training or learning & development experience within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry, preferred.
  • Prior Orthopaedics or musculoskeletal experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated new product launch experience, including launch planning and execution for complex specialty products
  • Previous sales experience within life sciences strongly preferred.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Experience with commercial learning platforms such as LMS, Veeva, Micro learning system, or similar systems.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross‑functionally and influence without authority.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, evolving commercial environment.
