Our Paris office will host our future core R&D team in charge of the development of our flagship product, Construct. Construct is a B2B SaaS construction management and quality control platform designed from the ground up for utility-scale solar projects. By combining GIS, AI/ML, IoT, and mobile technologies, the solution drives major improvements in safety, quality, cost, and schedule for the solar industry. Construct has supported more than 16+ GW of projects from leading owners and EPCs. 

The Role

Terabase’s Sr Manager, AI/ML Engineering Team is a member of the software product development team, reporting to the Head of Engineering who leads the Paris engineering team. The AI/ML Engineering team is a team that will be expected to design, build, release, and support features for our flagship SaaS software product Construct. 

We are looking for an experienced team leader that is also comfortable being a hands-on developer, with the experience to write high-quality code, lead an engineering team, and help shape the foundational culture of our new office in Paris. Success in this role means you’re a strong technologist, thoughtful leader, and a culture role model. 

Our new Senior Manager, AI/ML Team will be asked to help build out and lead a team to develop AI/ML enabled features in products across the entire product ecosystem. This will involve architectural design/review and leadership as well as clear communication and advocating for alignment across multiple internal and external teams. This role will also actively collaborate with other engineering teams located in the United States as well as with our external software development partners centered in Belgrade, Serbia. 

Responsibilities 

• Serve as the leader of Terabase’s Paris-based AI/ML Engineering team and help to grow a high-performing, mission-aligned team in the new Paris office. 

• Work closely with Sr. Director Software in Paris to plan/guide/execute key Terabase AI/ML engineering team activities 

• Work closely with other key software/digital team leaders: Director Construction Technologies, Director IoT Technologies, Director Autonomy, Principal Solution Architect 

• Lead an initially small team including primarily AI/ML engineers 

• Conduct research and stay up to date with the latest advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence systems and approaches. 

• Perform rigorous testing and validation of machine learning based products and systems in diverse construction environments. 

• Collaborate with our internal and external software development teams 

• Design, train, test, deploy models to augment existing and create new Terabase software products to ‘digitalize’ the full lifecycle (development, design, construction, and operation) of solar power plants. 

• Communicate with and support users of developed tools & products 

• Champion culture and communication by building bridges between the local team other Terabase teams 

Minimum Qualifications 

• 7+ years' experience with architecture, technologies, and approaches relevant to the AI/ML feature set in Terabase products – a SaaS web-based cloud-deployed modern software stack 

• Master’s in computer science or equivalent industry and/or academic experience/training 

• 4+ years of experience (or academic equivalent) in developing AI/machine learning models and pipelines. 

• Proficiency in programming languages Python, Julia, R or MATLAB 

• Experience in Computer Vision 

• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch. 

• Experience data labeling validation software frameworks. 

• Experience in MLOps 

• Ability to work remotely and to work with distributed teams in various time zones 

• Proficient written and verbal English communication skills 

• Solid programming skills, with exposure to object oriented and functional programming techniques 

• Solid understanding of agile workflow management process and software product lifecycle 

Preferred Qualifications 

• PhD in Computer Science or equivalent academic/industry experience/training 

• Experience with LLMs and Foundation Models 

• Experience with SPARK based ML pipeline execution systems. 

• Experience with AWS EMR or equivalent pipeline tools. 

• Experience with data management and curation to maintain and improve model quality over time. 

• Experience with software product design and software product management 

• Experience building ETL pipelines for large and frequently changing datasets 

• Experience with AI/ML technologies and building them into customer-facing products 

• Experience with ‘digital twins’ where physical assets and processes are modeled and tracked in software 

• Experience with and understanding of GIS technologies and applications 

• Startup company experience with a focus on building new products and accessing new markets

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
