Job Description

INTRODUCTION:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Sr. Manager, Accounting to join our dynamic team in India. The Sr. Manager, Accounting will be responsible for the accounting activities for ABC’s India entity, including tax compliance, recording transactions for both US GAAP and local statutory purposes, and transfer pricing. This role involves working closely with various internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure tax compliance, while optimizing tax efficiency.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Management:
  • Establish the Accounting team in India, including creating an organizational structure, in conjunction with the Global Tax Director and Controller
  • Provide local oversight for members of the global Accounting team located in India, including Collections, Accounts Payable, and other functions as they may be established
• Accounting:
  • Record monthly transactions to ensure the entity’s books are complete and accurate for both US GAAP and India statutory accounting, aligned with the close timeline maintained by the Assistant Controller
  • Optimize operational processes to minimize manual journals and accounting corrections, educating and developing team members to increase their knowledge and awareness of both US GAAP and India statutory accounting requirements
• Tax Compliance:
  • Oversee and ensure the accurate and timely filing of direct and indirect taxes (including GST, Income Tax, TDS, Transfer Pricing, etc.) as per Indian tax laws, including partnering with Payroll on payroll tax compliance as needed.
  • Review tax returns and prepare necessary supporting documents for assessments, audits, and other tax filings.
• Tax Reporting:
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax provisions, supporting financial statements and disclosures as per Indian GAAP or IFRS.
  • Coordinate with the finance and accounting teams to ensure proper documentation of tax positions.
• Transfer Pricing:
  • Manage transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with Indian transfer pricing regulations.
  • Assist in preparing transfer pricing reports and addressing any related tax audits.
• Audits:
  • Manage the annual Indian statutory audit process, ensuring a timely submission with minimal adjustments
  • Support and manage tax audits, assessments, and dispute resolution processes with tax authorities.
  • Handle inquiries from tax authorities and manage the preparation of documents and evidence for audits and assessments.
• Regulatory Updates & Research:
  • Keep updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings, and communicate these changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and provide insights on tax laws, case laws, and evolving tax regulations.
• External Relationships:
  • Liaise with external consultants, auditors, legal experts, and government authorities to resolve tax-related matters.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Education:
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field of study.
• Experience:
  • Requires 10+ years of relevant accounting experience with at least 5 years in tax management for a global company
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian taxation (Income Tax, GST, Transfer Pricing, etc.) and familiarity with international tax laws, INDAS and US GAAP.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
  • Strong knowledge of tax reporting systems and ERP systems. Workday Experience strongly preferred.
