What You'll Do:
- Being the first employee on a team designed to support the Global Commercial Legal Organization, by helping drive efficiency and support key commercial legal contractual and operational activities
- Preparation, review and negotiation of a variety of commercial documents and contracts, including primarily without limitation: Non-Disclosure Agreements (and helping to establish the global ‘NDA Desk’, assignment and novation agreements, divestiture letter agreements, legal notices, data protection addendums, and other customer contract amendments, in support of customers across all regions where Coupa does business (North America, EMEA, APAC, and LATAM).
- Interacting with and supporting the Global Commercial Legal Operations Director with the implementation and ongoing improvement of internal contract management systems, processes and initiatives.
- Collaborating with Commercial Legal and other internal stakeholders to identify areas of improvement related to legal processes; helping identify and develop related benchmarks, guidelines, and playbooks to strive for excellence and efficiency.
- Supporting the development and improvement of contractual and legal templates on an “as needed” basis, including, by way of example, collection letter templates, customer contract amendments, and various other documents.
- Research and gather facts for inbound dispute and collection matters
- Supporting the global legal team as needed on additional miscellaneous items.
What You Will Bring to Coupa:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant area of study and 1-3 years of experience as a contract manager/administrator/specialist, paralegal, or in-house attorney.
- Prior experience must be in an area of in-house commercial and/or B2B transactions.
- Prior experience with contracts and legal matters across different jurisdictions (including North America, and EMEA) would be a big plus. Alternatively, willingness to learn, and interest in supporting global requests and issues in multiple global jurisdictions is essential.
- Fluency in English with excellent communication and drafting skills is a must.
- Fluency or the ability to process requests and draft and negotiate legal documents in one or more key market languages (Spanish, German, French, or Portuguese) will be a big plus.
- Attention to detail and solid drafting skills are critical for the role, with the ability to craft clear and precise agreements to accomplish the intended purpose.
- Highly organized and communicative, with the ability to multi-task.
- Self-starter with a desire to learn and a bias for action to work independently in a high-volume and fast paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are a must. Prior experience in interfacing with legal clients and/or commercial customers and internal executives/leaders.
- A desire to build relationships within the Legal Department and across other Coupa departments.
- Integrity, a commitment to confidentiality, and the ability to handle privileged, secret, and sensitive information and documentation in an appropriate and professional manner.
- Willingness to work off hours as needed to support deals and internal clients.
- Prior exposure experience in the SaaS industry would be beneficial.
- Travel: approximately 5%
