Primary Function

The Sr Learning Consultant is responsible for designing and developing learning solutions that meet the learning requirements of multiple audiences. The Sr Learning Consultant manages all aspects of the learning and development process inclusive of curriculum development, needs analysis, design, development, and outcome assessment and will consult with subject matter experts on the design and development of classroom and media-based training. Content will be implemented through various mediums, including eLearning, video, webinars and instructor-led classes.

Principal Duties

  • Design, develop and author highly effective, results driven learning solutions to support the learning and development needs of internal and external clients; ability to develop compelling collateral materials
  • Consult and collaborate with appropriate stakeholders and SMEs to determine appropriate training content (e.g., products, processes, tools, skills needed)
  • Determine appropriate delivery approaches and methodologies (e.g., ILT, VLT, eLearning, video, etc.)
  • Leverage highly developed technical skills in curriculum development to build powerful eLearning solutions, videos, classroom, and webinar training content
  • Work independently to meet deadlines while coordinating with and soliciting input on materials from subject matter experts; develop relationships and work with the subject matter experts to validate course design and content
  • Use assessment tools & solicited feedback to provide recommendations for updating & improving content, delivery methods & overall training program effectiveness
  • Utilize project management skills to define and meet project milestones, communicate issues and risks in a timely manner, and escalate to senior management as necessary
  • Obtain stakeholder and SME approval/sign-off of training materials (following review cycles), and make needed revisions based on stakeholder feedback
  • Research, benchmark and propose curriculum to meet current and future business needs of a sales-driven culture and work environment
  • Ability to effectively utilize various media and technologies for learning solution delivery, storage, and access, i.e., Learning Management Systems, external vendor virtual delivery solutions, (i.e., MS Teams, WebEx, Skype for Business, etc.)
  • Ability to facilitate, co-facilitate, as well as provide coaching to SME facilitators on best practices for delivery using various media
  • Accountable for sustaining high level of acumen across the organization’s core product portfolio, distribution and sales processes, and value proposition; staying informed on industry trends, techniques of industry competitors, and on new and emerging practices and technology to drive innovative learning solutions and maintain an effective learning curriculum
  • Design, develop, and facilitate an instructional design curriculum for cross-training internal Learning and Development team members to expand their instruction design skills

Education and Experience Requirements  

  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of mortgage sales and/or operations experience and/or servicing. Experience in multiple channels/departments a plus.
  • Five (5+) years of hands-on instructional design and content/training development for multiple media
  • Three (3+) years of experience leading large, complex (sales training, a plus) learning and development instructional design projects and/or curriculum develop projects, a plus
  • Committed to excellence, has strong work ethics and takes pride in their work
  • Proven initiative, positive attitude, team oriented, self-motivated and highly enthusiastic
  • Deep working knowledge of adult learning theory and design/facilitation techniques
  • Familiarity with a wide array of training concepts, practices and procedures
  • Ability to communicate and execute clear, consistent and applicable learning experiences aligned to organizational goals. Excellent project management skills
  • Attention to detail and follow-through critical
  • Excellent oral communication, presentation, writing and editing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to influence laterally and vertically
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and peers to deliver business results
  • Solid problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong ability to effectively manage multiple projects/cases simultaneously and juggle multiple (and potentially conflicting) priorities
  • Highly proficient in use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), experience with Office 365, One Drive for Business, One Drive Web Portal, OneNote, and Visio, a plus
  • High proficiency and command of common authoring tools and course development methodologies. (Articulate Storyline 360(2.0), Adobe Captivate, Adobe CC, Camtasia, etc.) a plus
  • Advanced ability to develop video and audio files (e.g., Snag-It, Adobe Premiere Elements, Adobe Audition, iMovie, etc.) and expand use of these technologies a plus
  • Ability to travel within the U.S. (approximately 25% travel required)
