Role Overview:

Could you be our next Sr. IT Business Systems Analyst? Globe Life is looking for an Sr. IT Business Systems Analyst to join the team!

This role is responsible for guiding requirements elicitation efforts across the organization's software applications and systems. This person will enable business transformation by collaborating with business and technology stakeholders to define needs, design solutions, and manage requirements in alignment with organizational strategy. They will also provide guidance to team members, support quality assurance activities, and partner with the Application Delivery Manager to continuously improve the business analysis practice.

This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, TX (WFH Monday & Friday, In-Office Tuesday-Thursday).

What You Will Do:

  • Determine business needs by applying insight and business acumen to connect concepts, make recommendations, and understand and support the rationale for changes. Help others identify the value behind each requirement and see the value of change.
  • Influence solution approaches by participating in and supporting team members through identifying business improvement opportunities, allocating requirements across solution components, and developing design options that achieve the desired future state.
  • Cultivate key stakeholder relationships, strategizing to best meet business needs, and ensuring active engagement throughout the project lifecycle. Mentor team members through building and managing their own stakeholder relationships.
  • Create and drive adherence to business analysis work plans for analysis across multiple products, allocating work, monitoring progress, reporting status, and recommending changes or improvements where appropriate.
  • Resolve complex issues and conflicts, being recognized by leadership as an authority in obtaining agreement on requirements and designs and manage/track the approval of requirements across multiple products.
  • Work with department leadership to define and modernize BA practices across the organization, including researching, recommending, and implementing new BA techniques and associated tools, templates, and processes.
  • Coordinate QA activities including functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT), ensuring thorough coverage of acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with developers and architects to understand technical designs and translate them into testable requirements and validation strategies.
  • Analyze system integrations, data flows, and APIs to identify potential failure points and define appropriate test coverage.
  • Serve as a liaison between QA, development, and business teams to ensure delivered solutions meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

What You Can Bring:

  • Bachelors Degree (Preferred).
  • 6+ years in business systems analysis, IT business analyst, or equivalent role (Required).
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA for requirements management, test case management, and defect tracking (Required).
  • Solid technical understanding of software development, data analysis, system integration, architecture concepts, SSDLC, APIs, databases, and data flows (Required).
  • Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio (Required).
  • 2+ years in a quality assurance role (Strongly Preferred).
  • Life insurance background and experience (Strongly Preferred).
  • Agile analysis experience (Strongly Preferred).
  • Ability to analyze system integrations, data flows, technical designs, and technical documentation such as API specs, data dictionaries, and architecture diagrams to inform QA strategy (Strongly Preferred).
  • IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional or equivalent certification (Strongly Preferred).
  • Working knowledge of IIBA Business Analysis Body of Knowledge and Agile Extension (Strongly Preferred).
  • Proficiency in SQL or equivalent data querying tools for data validation, analysis, and reporting (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with test management practices, including writing test plans, test cases, and traceability matrices.
  • Experience with defect lifecycle management and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to generate new ideas and apply them to resolving business and technical problems.
  • Ability to use analysis to confidently make decisions and recommend courses of action.
  • Ability to rapidly absorb new information or new domains.
  • Ability to evaluate problems and make recommendations for solutions, avoiding assumptions.
  • Ability to consider the interests of all stakeholders and honestly communicate about potential issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey information, ask effective questions, adjust writing style for various audiences, and articulate complex concepts.
  • Ability to teach applications, skills, and functional areas to team members clearly and effectively.
  • Strong facilitation skills, including the ability to effectively lead meetings, ensure shared understanding, execute clear demos, and guide conversations.
  • Strong teamwork skills, including fostering a collaborative environment, effectively resolving conflicts, and maintaining team members' trust and respect.

Skills Required

  • 6+ years in business systems analysis or equivalent role
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA for requirements management
