Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, one of the largest dual-unit, Boiling Water Reactor sites in the U.S., delivers approximately 2700 MW of electricity to the grid in Northeastern Pennsylvania. How You’ll Power the Future

At Talen Energy, your work fuels progress. In this role, you’ll do more than contribute you’ll drive meaningful change by:

  • Assists in the collection and consolidation of data to support development of the annual Department budget including Major Projects.

  • Performs analysis of financial data and prepares monthly forecasts for station O&M and Capital .

  • Uses accounting and information systems to identify, investigate and analyze accounting issues and their impact to the overall budget. Reconciles accounting issues.

  • Develops routine financial reports to explain budget/forecast variances.

  • Develops monthly forecasts for O&M and Capital for station reporting.

  • Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events. Researches and prepares special reports for Talen Energy Corporate, Susquehanna executive and line management.

  • Participates in the Nuclear Emergency Response Organization.

  • Willingness to work non-traditional schedule and/or overtime as necessary, to meet closing and reporting deadlines.

What You Have

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of related experience

  • Must be able to meet and maintain requirements for security clearance necessary for site access at a commercial nuclear power plant.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Statistics, Finance or Business required.

  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, policies, and procedures. Minimum of five (5) years prior accounting experience including forecasting and business planning.

  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel: ability to develop and format worksheets; create and modify charts; import data into Excel; integrate Excel with other programs; develop Pivot tables; and work with formulas and functions to develop customized applications with macros.

  • Ability to exchange routine and non-routine information constructively, using tact and persuasion as appropriate.

  • Ability to interpret information and develop accurate forecasts for O&M and Capital monthly.

  • Requires strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in highly detailed, high-pressure environment.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to support a constructive culture.

  • Ability to travel within Talen Energy system and, on occasion, outside of Pennsylvania. Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Nuclear Emergency Response Organization (NERO) requirements -- Must accept and qualify for a NERO role and accept responsibilities of an on-call position on a rotational basis and respond in emergency and drill situations as part of the Company's Nuclear Emergency Response Organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification desirable (e.g., CPA, CMA).

  • Previous working knowledge of Oracle databases and client/server applications desired.
