Job Summary
The Senior Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting expense planning, analysis, accounting, and reporting for F&G’s operations. The Finance Department interacts with various functional areas in the company to gather input/data and deliver value-added impactful analysis and reporting. Reporting to the Manager of Expense Planning and Analysis, this position is key to fostering strong partnerships with internal teams and stakeholders, requiring exceptional communication skills and collaborative abilities. This position collaborates with team members to complete the month-end closing process for general expenses across the organization. It assists with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes for general expenses on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. It conducts in-depth variance analysis and expense reporting, providing insightful analytics that inform senior management and support strategic decision-making. This position also participates in process improvement initiatives and project work within the Financial Planning & Analysis and Finance departments. Finally, the incumbent interacts with external vendors, auditors, and insurance examiners, ensuring thorough and accurate external communications.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting company-wide expense management for the organization, including the preparation of the company’s annual expense plan and related reforecast.
- Support the month-end closing process by performing responsibilities that include (but are not limited to): establishing review process and procedures to ensure efficient, timely and accurate reporting, general ledger entries (incentive compensation accruals, general expense accruals, capitalization and depreciation utilizing Oracle Fixed Assets, etc.); running the investment and general expense allocations, including expense deferrals and mergers & acquisition analysis.
- Enhance operational efficiency by designing, implementing, and continuously improving processes and key controls for the closing procedures
- Complete various reports and analysis to support the Tax Department, GAAP & Statutory external reporting and internal/external auditors.
- Prepare monthly senior executive level expense analyses with a focus on providing insightful, value-added analysis that informs business decisions and supports achievement of the Company’s business strategies/goals.
- Complete GL account reconciliations of key and non-key expense related accounts.
- Respond to accounting and general ledger inquiries from budget managers and other key stakeholders..
- Assist with expense allocations by line of business, channel/product and unit cost assumptions. This includes responding to audit inquiries and providing support to key stakeholders including Actuarial, Financial Reporting.
- Provide recommendations and prepare action plans for improvements in expense efficiencies, including cost saving opportunities.
- Provide oversight of the administration of the Company’s Business Spend Management software (Coupa)
- Support for the continued development of the annual forecasting and budgeting process within OneStream.
- Perform special projects as assigned, which may include projects beyond the scope of expense management.
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4-6 years related professional experience in financial reporting, expense reporting and/or analysis required
- CPA certification, MBA, or on CPA track preferred
- Big-4 Audit Experience highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of accounting practices and principles
- Insurance industry experience highly desirable. Financial services or asset management industry also preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint required
- Strong system knowledge including familiarity with current era of client-server accounting/financial packages (Oracle,OneStream, Essbase, etc.)
- Experience with Business Spend Management software desirable (e.g. Coupa)
