Sr. Finance Assistant for Mennonite Mission Network to work at our Elkhart, IN loc. Remote work may be available on occasion with supervisor’s permission.
JOB SUMMARY:
Manage international financial transactions, administer cash mgmt duties, oversee fixed asset accounting. Position will be finance subject matter expert for accounts payable & special projects.
JOB DUTIES:
- Work w/ Regional Directors to ensure proper payment of all international grants & international expense reports.
- Monitor & track special projects & grant spending for ministry programs. Prep & process weekly USD payments by check, ACH & international wire.
- Prep & process FX purchases for international partners as needed. Reconcile accounts payable monthly & address outstanding checks.
- Record entries associated w/ fixed assets & leased assets.
- Prep & file annual personal property assessment.
- Record journal entries & manage monthly adjusting entries checklist.
- Work w/ Director of Finance to prep annual audit workpapers associated w/ restricted funds, fixed asset roll-forward schedule & interfund reconciliation.
- Participate in departmental & company-wide meetings.
- Cross train & assist w/ coverage for other Finance Assistants.
- Participate as contributing, dependable, & cooperative member of assigned teams; support organizational initiatives & departmental goals.
- May undergo background checks incl ref checks, Motor Vehicle Record check.
- May require successful responses to technical interview questions.
- Applicants who have not received anti-racism training within the past three years must be willing to participate in that training within 1 year of employment.
- Little national travel is possible to Newton, KS office & other locations (to visit other office locations, participate in staff gatherings, conferences).
- Travel not exceeding 60 days/year or 5 days in single trip.
- Must have Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting, or rel field; 2 years relevant experience working in a financial or banking environment; and required skills (2 years exp) in: MS Office Suite.
