Job Summary:
The Senior Engineer III, Algorithms leads the design, development, validation, and optimization of advanced biomedical signal processing algorithms supporting Masimo's noninvasive monitoring technologies. This role applies deep technical expertise to solve complex engineering challenges, translate scientific concepts into clinically meaningful solutions, and support the development of innovative medical devices. Working cross-functionally with engineering, clinical, quality, and regulatory teams, the Senior Engineer III serves as a technical subject matter expert, driving innovation and mentoring junior engineers.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, implementation, validation, and optimization of advanced biomedical signal processing algorithms supporting Masimo's noninvasive monitoring technologies.
- Apply expertise in signal processing, statistical analysis, numerical modeling, and software development to solve complex technical challenges and improve algorithm performance, accuracy, and reliability.
- Design and execute experiments, analyze clinical and engineering datasets, and validate algorithm performance to support product development and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement algorithm solutions using MATLAB, C/C++, Python, or other applicable programming languages, including support for embedded system implementation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Hardware, Software, Systems, Clinical, Quality, Regulatory, and Product Management teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership on complex development initiatives, including design reviews, technical problem solving, and the establishment of engineering best practices.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers while fostering knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the engineering organization.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, scientific literature, and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and advancement of Masimo's technology portfolio.
- Contribute to intellectual property development, technical documentation, design controls, and other engineering deliverables supporting successful product commercialization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
10+ years of experience developing algorithms for biomedical signal processing or other complex sensing applications
Strong expertise in digital and statistical signal processing, estimation techniques, optimization methods, and numerical modeling
Advanced programming proficiency in MATLAB and C/C++; experience with Python or similar programming languages
Strong understanding of embedded systems and algorithm implementation considerations
Experience analyzing and interpreting large datasets using statistical methods
Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities
Ability to independently lead complex technical projects with minimal direction
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
Proven ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional engineering organizations
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience developing physiological measurement algorithms for medical devices
Knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, pulse oximetry, or other noninvasive monitoring technologies
Experience working within FDA-regulated medical device development environments
Familiarity with Design Controls, verification and validation processes, and applicable industry standards
Experience applying machine learning, artificial intelligence, or advanced modeling techniques to biomedical signal processing
Publications, patents, or demonstrated history of technical innovation
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical discipline required; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
Compensation + Benefits: The anticipated range for this position is $150,000 - $185,000. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, and experience. This position also qualifies for up to 10% annual bonus based on Company, department, and individual performance. Physical requirements/Work Environment:
This position primarily works in a laboratory environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required. May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities.
