Summary Generated by Built In

At Relativity Space, we have two audacious goals: to build the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and to become America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Both contribute to our long-term vision of creating humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to expand the possibilities of the human experience. This journey begins right here on Earth – where we design, build, and fly rockets to deliver customer payloads to orbit. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable rocket, fulfills the growing demand for launch capacity, thanks to our iterative approach that accelerates design, testing, and development while minimizing costs. While our groundbreaking research and development in 3D printing pushes the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing.

Your journey with us is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience alongside a community of passionate, creative individuals. Join us on this extraordinary journey, as we work together to transform our vision into reality.

About the Team:

The Stennis team at Relativity Space is responsible for designing, building, and operating world-class test stands to support the Terran 1 stages, engines, and propulsion components. As part of this team, you will help build and operate massive outdoor test stands at the historic Stennis Space Center on the Gulf Coast, the country's largest rocket engine test complex. Unique to this location, you will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the fully integrated engine and stage assemblies, push the hardware to the limits, and witness rocket engines firing up close and personally! This team is critical to the development of Terran R, among many other firsts!

About the Role:

As an Electrical Engineer at Relativity Space, you will design and develop innovative electrical solutions for various projects. You will collaborate with internal technical teams to define electrical requirements and create cutting-edge designs. You will be the point of contact for external consultants, contractors, and government agencies. You will support the building of electrical systems for test stand facilities and develop conceptual designs for the 250-acre Terran R test complex, including the historic rebuild of the A2 test stand. You will also oversee the construction activities and subcontractor management for these projects. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining and troubleshooting existing electrical distribution systems, implementing maintenance procedures, and ensuring the reliability of AC power distribution equipment. This role offers the potential to make a significant impact through your design expertise in electrical engineering.

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or closely related engineering field as well as 5+ years of combined engineering experience is required
  • Experience identifying patterns and trends with electrical systems, encompassing analysis, design, field experience, project management, and project execution
  • Proven and recurring success in electrical distribution design, including designing and interpreting technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and modeling applications
  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining low-voltage power systems
  • Industry experience with construction bid solicitation, contractor selection, construction management, field superintendent, permitting, and QA/QC
  • Industry experience following NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E protocols

Nice to haves, but not required:

  • Experience working in the Aerospace or Commercial Construction industry
  • Experience in the design and operation of mission-critical electrical systems as well as experience in commissioning, operating, and maintaining low-voltage power systems
  • Possession of a Professional Engineering License (PE)
  • Proven ability to adapt to changing requirements or constraints and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical
  • Integration expertise with communication interfaces such as Ethernet, RS422, RS232, RS485, Modbus, etc

What We Do

A rocket company at the core, Relativity Space is on a mission to become the next great commercial launch company. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable launch vehicle, will reliably deliver payloads to orbit on-time and on-budget for customers – meeting the needs of growing demand for space infrastructure. Leveraging the benefits of additive manufacturing to design, test, and iterate at a pace unmatched in the industry, we are changing the way rockets are built and flown.

Our long-term goal is to create humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to fundamentally expand the possibilities of the human experience. The first step toward this vision starts here on Earth, by building the next great commercial launch company.

Why Work With Us

For 60 years, aerospace manufacturing has relied on fixed tooling and complex supply chains to slowly build rockets comprised of hundreds of thousands of parts. Leveraging advances in additive manufacturing, Relativity Space is strategically focused on reducing vehicle complexity, cost, and time to market.
