The Sr. Specialist, Employee Relations is an individual contributor on the ER team, reporting to the Employee Relations Director. This role serves as a trusted advisor responsible for reviewing workplace concerns, conducting investigations, assessing organizational risk, and recommending appropriate outcomes. The Sr. Specialist partners closely with HR Business Partners, leaders, and other stakeholders to support consistent policy administration, compliant case handling, and timely resolution of employee relations matters.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead investigations into workplace complaints raised through internal channels and select external filings, including allegations involving harassment, retaliation, discrimination, policy violations and other employee relations concerns.

  • Apply sound judgement to determine appropriate investigative outcomes and recommendations.

  • Partner with HR Business Partners to ensure consistent, compliant case handling across exempt and non-exempt employee populations.

  • Maintain rigorous, audit ready investigation documentation and case tracking.

  • Design and execute structured investigation plans tailored to case complexity.

  • Drive cases to timely, well-supported closure by documenting findings, rationale, recommendations, and follow-up actions.

  • Safeguard employee data and statements with the highest standards of confidentiality.

  • Produce clear, defensible investigation reports that hold up to legal and regulatory scrutiny.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally on investigations, performance management, and broader ER initiatives.

  • Analyze case trends to identify risk patterns, recurring employee relations themes, and opportunities for proactive, preventative action.

  • Apply employee relations best practices in areas such as conflict resolution, dispute management, complaint intake, case management, workplace investigations, and policy interpretation.

  • Advise leaders on disciplinary actions, separations, administrative leave, and other employment decisions by balancing organizational risk, policy consistency, employee experience, and business need.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field required.

  • 3-5 years of related Employee Relations or Human Resources experience required, including hands-on experience conducting or supporting workplace investigations.

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, with the ability to apply requirements consistently in a multi-state environment.

  • Experience advising managers on disciplinary action, documentation, performance management, and related employee relations matters.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document processes and reports.

  • High degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment when handling sensitive employee and company information.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, compliance, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 4+ years of experience in HR compliance, regulatory reporting, or a related compliance-focused role
  • Demonstrated experience managing recurring regulatory or agency reporting obligations with strict deadlines
  • Working knowledge of employment-law-related compliance requirements, including ACA, EEO reporting, and workforce recordkeeping
  • Strong analytical and auditing skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple recurring deliverables simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to document processes and explain compliance requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and ability to learn and navigate HRIS, payroll, benefits, and compliance systems
  • High degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment handling sensitive employee and company information
