Support the company's financial representatives and their staff by providing them and their clients' professional advisors with expertise in the estate planning, business planning, high net worth, and retirement planning markets and the use of Northwestern Mutual products and services within those markets.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consult with financial representatives and their staff through daily telephone communications.
  • Train financial representatives, their staff, and outside centers of influence at various schools, network office events, and digital events.
  • Research and write content for various Sophisticated Planning Strategies publications, tools and resources, and articles.
  • Lead SPS projects and company-wide projects on matters important to the advanced markets, including the estate planning, business planning, high net worth, and retirement planning markets.
  • Maintain and grow deep subject matter expertise on tax and legal issues impacting the advanced markets through legal and tax research and analysis of industry trends. Use this knowledge to help drive company strategy.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and JD from accredited law school.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in at least one state (Wisconsin not required).
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in a law firm or financial services firm.
  • Knowledge and experience in the areas of business planning, estate planning, tax planning, high net worth planning, or retirement planning.
  • Knowledge of or a willingness to understand financial services products and the Northwestern Mutual distribution system.
  • The ability to comprehend, evaluate and explain complex planning concepts in laymen terms in daily telephone communications and oral presentations, and in written publications.
  • Series 6 or 7 is required, or ability to obtain within 120 days of hire.
  • CLU/ChFC or CFP designation preferred but not required.

Pay Range - Start:
$133,140.00
Pay Range - End:
$247,260.00
Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
