Role Description:

The Senior Director of Engineering and Product Management, Business Technology for Employee Success is an exciting role that drives significant transformation, innovation, and best practices for our fast paced, exciting and highly rewarding Employee Success organization. This role reports to the VP of Engineering and Product Management and offers the opportunity to lead our Employee Success digital technology transformation strategy and implementation. You will have high visibility and exposure to Salesforce Sr. Leadership and will be responsible for leading transformation initiatives and influencing the vision for new/emerging HR technology.

Key to this role is the ability to think strategically, build cross-functional relationships, apply critical thinking skills and take the initiative to drive results. You will partner with stakeholders across the business to drive transformation and innovation to enable scale. You will be responsible for guiding the product direction for various technologies and functions for the Employee Success organization. The individual is responsible for the employee success product and technical roadmaps, development and implementation, opportunity & innovation identification, and business case development across the product set. Responsibilities include a strong focus on enabling scale, delivery excellence, innovation, and user experience.

This role will lead a global team of product managers and engineers with concerted focus on nurturing our Ohana culture. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in building and leading both product and technical teams, and in defining, implementing, and influencing product engineering strategy and excellence. Providing guidance through their career progressions, this people and delivery leadership role is also responsible for effective executive stakeholder engagement. Broad business understanding with experience in HR domains preferred.

This individual should be someone equally comfortable in the tactical details of execution and delivery as well as driving strategic implications and decision-making with the executive leadership team. Ability to influence others and build strong collaborative relationships is extremely important as this work impacts many key functions and processes across the enterprises. The individual should possess strong leadership qualities, including the ability to create and articulate a concise vision and objectives. The candidate needs to have strong people skills in the areas of coaching and developing teams. The individual for this role should be someone with solid business knowledge and technical background so that they are credible with our executive team. The selected candidate will be a hands-on leader, possess expertise in Product Management for Human Resource functions specifically Human Capital Management, Recruiting, Onboarding, Candidate Experience, Talent Management, Payroll, and Total Rewards. This person should have a strong background that involves diverse on-prem and cloud applications and integration technologies. The candidate must possess strong business engagement, promote a collaborative team culture, and ignite passion within the team to build robust flawless business solutions.

YOUR AREAS OF IMPACT:

  • Bridge the relationship gap between "IT" and "the business".
  • Seasoned leader with a track record of building and leading both product and technology teams in a muti-billion dollar enterprise software company.
  • Partner with Employee Success executive leadership to define and drive the Multi-year Strategy and Roadmap.
  • Highly strategic yet attuned to critical details.
  • Accelerate the Employee Success organization into our planned future state with an end goal of enabling growth and global scale.
  • Develop short and long range operating objectives, organizational structure, staffing requirements and succession plans for the Product Management, Employee Success function.
  • Coach and develop Product Managers and Owners to ensure product teams share a common, customer-centric culture and apply common methods to drive excellence in roles and function.
  • Bring industry best practice and external perspectives to educate peers and senior stakeholders on the art of the possible as it relates to Recruiting, Onboarding, Candidate Experience, Talent Management, Payroll, and Total Rewards and influence partners in Employee Technology to implement new technology that brings value in greater efficiency and a better user experience.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Work closely with senior and executive level management.
  • Deliver, large-scale, global transformational technology initiatives
  • Design HR technology strategy and roadmap to address current and future business needs
  • Maintain a full product life cycle perspective, and work with product teams to balance short-term achievements with long-term goals (including minimizing technical debt)
  • Manage vendors to plan, execute and monitor projects directly and/or indirectly
  • Maintain industry knowledge and enhance subject matter expertise, identify trends and changes in client and competitor behaviors, and keep abreast of changing regulatory requirements.
  • Follow a cyclical process of business value, financial review, forecasting, idea generation, discovery, business case preparation, product development, and implementation.
  • Build and develop alignment within the organization through frequent interaction with stakeholders throughout Employee Success and Business Technology.



SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 12+years of experience managing Engineering and Product Management teams in a rapidly growing environment
  • Experience delivering large-scale implementations is required - HR systems experience preferred
  • Instil a culture of high performance and innovation to drive the formation of a diverse, global culture with high retention, job satisfaction and demonstrable talent migration backed with a future bench of leadership.
  • Experience with design thinking, agile leadership, and continuous delivery
  • Experience leading and collaborating with architecture, engineering, product, UX, and People Operations/ Human Resources teams to drive design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Human Resources solutions.
  • Experience owning the end to end customer experience and tech stack, delivering key customer benefits by focusing on speed and quality.
  • Business background with deep understanding of customers, digital opportunities, the company's value proposition for its HR products, and the technology context and strategy required to enable and differentiate.
  • Strong technical, business and finance acumen
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and resourceful in achieving success in the face of ambiguity while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities
  • Champions diversity of team, thought, and opinion
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to convey complex ideas in a strategic and concise fashion
  • Demonstrates the Salesforce values of Trust, Growth, Innovation and Equality
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously and achieve targeted completion dates.
  • A team player with proven ability to build strong collaborative relationships with internal and external partners including finance, technology, operations, sales, marketing, legal/compliance, fleet and vendors.
  • Process improvement orientation. A proven ability to recommend solutions, champion change, manage implementation, influence others, and foster teamwork.
  • 12+ years of experience leading a functional team in a cloud-based IT organization, with a strong preference for those who have managed in Agile/Scrum environments
  • HR and experience applications, cloud-based human resource applications, mobile applications, with complex integration architecture
  • Proficiency in spectrum of delivery methods (Agile > Kanban > hybrid > waterfall)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with capability to facilitate deep strategic conversations with business unit executives and the ability to influence decisions across functions.
