One of our biggest brands, Entertainment Weekly, is looking for a Senior Art Director. In this role, you will work closely with our creative and editorial leads to produce engaging, brand-led content and experiences across many different surfaces. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to create elevated designs and expressive storytelling that engage and delight our audience.

 

As Senior Art Director at Entertainment Weekly, you will be responsible for guiding a multidisciplinary team, designing the look and feel of brand elements, and refining and iterating on those ideas with stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of assigned design projects and follow established processes to ensure smooth delivery of creative assets.

  • Define Entertainment Weekly’s overall look and feel, and ensure execution across teams is on brand.

  • Lead the creation of thoughtfully designed digital editorial and marketing content, as well as graphic templates that seamlessly express the brand across channels.

  • Collaborate with the product design, commerce, and growth teams.

  • Help maintain digital brand guides.

  • Use requirements and stakeholder feedback to design premium visual assets, such as digital editorial static and motion designs and content templates, on an ongoing basis.

Collaborate with Editorial and Audience Teams

  • Lead visual direction of marketing, audience engagement, and editorial initiatives

  • Present design solutions and build consensus among a broad range of stakeholders.

  • Help build and maintain a happy and creative culture within the design team. 

  • Participate in brainstorming and critique sessions that foster big picture thinking while identifying opportunities to raise the bar on the details.

  • Keep project management tickets up to date, communicate progress, keep files organized, monitor communication from stakeholders, and meet deadlines.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education: 

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and experience

Experience: 

  • 3-5 years as an Art Director, 5-10 years as a designer 

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong typography skills

  • Strong editorial design skills

  • Strong design system skills

  • Working knowledge of motion graphics

  • Proficient in Figma

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, InDesign)

  • Publishing industry experience

  • Branding experience

  • Self-motivated

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills

  • A team player ready to work in a fast-paced environment

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $115,000 - $135,000

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of People Inc's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives. In addition, People Inc. provides to employees (and their eligible family members) a variety of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, prescription drug coverage, unlimited paid time off (PTO), adoption or surrogate assistance, donation matching, tuition reimbursement, basic life insurance, basic accidental death & dismemberment, supplemental life insurance, supplemental accident insurance, commuter benefits, short term and long term disability, health savings and flexible spending accounts, family care benefits, a generous 401K savings plan with a company match program, 10-12 paid holidays annually, and generous paid parental leave (birthing and non-birthing parents), all of which may vary depending on the specific nature of your employment with People Inc. and your work location.
