Role Purpose

Leads the design and validation of Seating systems, ensuring structural performance, functional, manufacturability and regulatory compliance. Collaborates cross-functionally, mentors junior engineers and drives innovation to deliver robust, production-ready solutions

Reporting to

Manager / Assistant Manager / Sr. Lead Engineer / Lead Engineer

Responsibilities/ task

Lead the concept development, detailed design, and integration of Seating systems, Restraints etc.

On-time Delivery, Milestone Achievement, First-Time Right, Design Optimization, Issue Resolution, Mentorship, Documentation Quality

Educational Qualification

BE / DME in Mechanical/production/automobile stream

No. of years of work experience

If BE then 6- 9 years

Critical Skill Sets (Technical)

  • Software proficiency Catia / Unigraphics 3D and 2D, Team Center / Enovia / PLM preferred
  • Seating systems, Structure, Mechanism, Foam, Trim, Comfort systems, restraints
  • Seating JIT / Build / Development experience
  • Creation and understanding of master sections / 3D Concepts
  • Design for Assembly / Design for Servicing / Design for Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Requirements for – Packaging, Part to part Interface, Ergonomic, Utility and Stowage, Materials etc.
  • Understanding and implementing the findings from a CAE / Physical Testing
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Tolerances & Reference Point System)
  • Preparation of Digital Mockup (DMU) / Data Management
  • Experience in Supplier / Cross Functional Team Interaction and Management
  • Feature based Benchmarking and Recommendation
  • Ability to understand Gap & Step Requirement, Color & Texture Requirement, Craftsmanship Requirements
  • Knowledge of Sheet Metal Component Design
  • Knowledge of Product Development cycle / Project Milestones for Seating system
  • DVP&R (component, subsystem and vehicle testing/calibration)
  • Knowledge of Homologation /Styling / Regulatory Requirements

Skills Required

  • BE in Mechanical/Production/Automobile or DME in Mechanical/Automobile
  • 6-9 years experience (BE) or 8-11 years experience (DME) in automotive design
  • Proficiency with CATIA and Unigraphics (3D and 2D)
  • Experience with Teamcenter / Enovia or other PLM systems
  • Hands-on experience in seating systems, restraints, foam, trim, comfort systems
  • Knowledge of Design for Assembly / Servicing / Manufacturing (DFM/DFX)
  • Ability to interpret CAE results and physical testing findings
  • Knowledge and application of GD&T (tolerances & reference point system)
  • Experience preparing Digital Mockup (DMU) and data management
  • Experience with DVP&R (component, subsystem, vehicle testing/calibration) and homologation/styling/regulatory requirements
  • Supplier and cross-functional team interaction and management experience
  • Strong communication, problem solving, accountability, team coordination skills
  • Proficiency in English; Hindi and regional/native language knowledge
