The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
Salary Range$132,800.00 - $219,100.00- Lead the technical transformation of our mainframe database archtecture and position our legacy mainframe systems for the future. Thiis role combines deep IMS/DB2 expertise with emerging cloud and AI technologies to drive modernization initiatives and create next-generation solutions for complex enterprise environments.
- Maintain and optimize IMS/DB2 database environments with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for mainframe database architecture and operations.
- Lead troubleshooting of complex database issues and performance optimization.
- Design migration strategies for mainframe databases to cloud platforms. Evaluate and implement hybrid cloud-mainframe architectures. Collaborate on database modernization projects and technology assessments.
- Support the development of AI-assisted database monitoring and error interpretation systems. Contribute to knowledge transfer initiatives using AI-powered documentation tools. Participate in creating intelligent chatbot interfaces for database operations. Help build AI agents trained on institutional mainframe knowledge.
- 7-9 years of database/ data management experiences preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of database expertise including the ability to develop business partnerships and influence database priorities by identifying solutions that are aligned with current business objectives, closely follow industry trends relevant to database technologies and data management, understanding how to apply them, and sharing knowledge.
- Five (5) plus years of IMS/DB2 database administration and performance tuning experience.
- Strong understanding of mainframe architecture and z/OS environments.
- Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Knowledge of SQL optimization and database design principles.
- Cloud database experience (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or similar).
- Exposure to AI/ML concepts or tools (Python, data analytics, automation frameworks).
- Experience with database migration tools and methodologies.
- Knowledge of modern data architecture patterns and best practices.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong communicator who translates complex database concepts into business-friendly language and documents initiatives clearly and concisely. You excel at extracting key issues from discussions, giving and receiving constructive feedback, and ensuring all voices are heard through attentive, empathetic listening and inclusive collaboration across all roles.
- Demonstrates advanced leadership by taking decisive action in ambiguous situations, inspiring and motivating team members, and effectively influencing outcomes. Your ability to step up when ownership is unclear makes you a trusted leader who drives results through positive team dynamics.
- Advanced delivery skills including the ability to determine database architecture strategy and methodology to be used for efforts, use automated testing, monitoring, and informed feedback loops to ensure the quality and production readiness of database systems before deployment, monitor the health of database systems and that of adjacent systems.
- Strong problem solver who utilizes data and proofs of concepts to find creative database solutions to difficult problems, reflects on solutions, measuring their impact, and uses that information to ideate and optimize. Also adept at making database decisions that involve a significant number of factors with broad implications.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in work experience plus 6 years of database engineering experience.
