The Opportunity:
At Facility Optimization Solutions (FOS), a subsidiary of CannonDesign, it’s all about the people. We’re constantly growing, and that’s where this new opportunity comes in – for a Sr. Data Engineering Manager to support our Simplebid(R) program and Job Order Contracting (JOC) efforts. The Sr. Data Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the organization’s data management strategy, focusing on AWS cloud-based solutions to ensure seamless integration, storage, security, and analysis of data across domains such as customer, product, financial, and operational data. This role involves developing a data governance framework that ensures data quality, privacy, security, and compliance. The Manager will collaborate with multiple departments to align data initiatives with strategic goals, foster a data-driven culture, and enable efficient decision-making using AWS-powered analytics tools. This role is crucial in establishing a comprehensive framework that ensures data is effectively managed as a strategic asset to drive business value.
The Manager will develop and implement a data management framework that includes establishing data governance policies, procedures, and standards. They will lead data management initiatives and projects, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance across the organization. Additionally, they will lead a team of cost estimators, market researchers, and data specialists, providing guidance, training, and support.
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data management framework to enhance data strategy across the organization.
  • Establish data governance frameworks leveraging tools such as AWS Lake Formation for organizing and securing data lakes.
  • Lead data management initiatives and projects, driving continuous improvement in data practices.
  • Ensure high standards of data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Create and build a high-performing data management team that drives excellence in the marketplace.
  • Manage and allocate resources effectively for data management activities to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the performance of data management teams, providing guidance and support to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align data initiatives with business goals, fostering a data-driven culture.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of data management strategies.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to leadership on data-related opportunities and challenges.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance data literacy across the organization. Develop and implement a data management strategy using AWS services, ensuring scalability, performance, and accessibility.
  • Lead ETL processes and data integration to ensure smooth data movement across the organization.
  • Maintain and manage data storage for both structured and unstructured data.
  • Ensure data quality and accessibility for querying data lakes directly.
  • Oversee data warehousing initiatives using Amazon Redshift to support large-scale analytics and reporting.
  • Develop and deliver business intelligence reports to empower decision-making with real-time dashboards.
  • Manage real-time data streaming efforts to support time-sensitive analytics and operational insights.
  • Implement data privacy and security best practices to control access and encryption.
  • Collaborate with IT, marketing, finance, and other teams to align data initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Stay up-to-update with AWS innovations to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of cloud-based data management practices.
  • Promote data literacy within the organization by developing training programs focused on effective AWS tool usage.
  • May perform other duties as required.

Required skills and experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in data management, analytics, or cloud technology roles.
  • Proven experience working with AWS cloud infrastructure and data services
  • Experience leading large-scale data initiatives and fostering collaboration across departments.
  • Experience managing data domains such as customer, product, and financial data.
  • Expertise in data querying and analytics.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, collaboration, and time management skills.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to think strategically while paying attention to detail in operational execution.

The salary range for this position is $118,400 to $148,000 annually.  This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses. We offer a full benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage and flexible spending account options and voluntary insurances. We have paid time off, flex-time schedules, remote work options and a 401k plan and employee perk programs.
