Sr Data EngineerJob Description

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for building, analyzing, and supporting data pipelines all the way from development to test and production deployment. This position is also responsible for data manipulation, data pipeline performance, debugging, and fixing data issues. Additionally, this role collaborates with other team members by providing technical advice and training as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Transform unstructured data sets into structured, easily consumable data assets for the enterprise
  • Assemble large, complex sets of data from multiple sources that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
  • Build data pipelines for optimal extraction, transformation (ETL/ELT) and loading of data from various data sources using a cloud-based data warehousing platform
  • Assist end users with data-related technical issues in a cloud environment
  • Influence and implement designs and data models in partnership with data architects
  • Partner cross-functionally with data platform, governance, and security teams to support the data and infrastructure
  • Perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and implement sustainable fixes
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience; High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 5 years of experience with application development or packaged software implementations
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship

Additional Qualifications

  • Proficient in SQL and Python
  • Experience with IBM DataStage, SnapLogic, or similar technologies
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team and independently
  • Strong problem-solving and analysis skills
  • Ability to transition abstract concepts into stable and supportable software solutions
  • Ability to develop unbiased options and recommendations to technical problems and unbiased comparisons
  • Strong traits of decisiveness and judgment
  • Excellent documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery
  • Prior experience with on-prem to cloud platform migration
  • Understanding of GCP services such as Dataflow, Composer, Cloud Storage, CloudSQL, and others
  • Experience working in and designing a dimensional data warehouse
  • Understanding of threading and resource management
  • Previous experience working an in Agile/Product Delivery model
  • Experience working in environment with regulatory compliance requirements (HIPAA, PCI, etc.)
  • Previous experience in PBM / health care industry
  • Understanding of security implications of domain

Minimum Physical Job Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and shifts outside of Prime’s core business hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. as needed for technical support and/or project needs
  • Constantly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, talk and hear
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to a Manager in the Information Technology department

Potential pay for this position ranges from $94,000.00 - $160,000.00 based on experience and skills.
