The Role
The Senior Data Analyst translates and programs vast amounts of data into understandable, relevant, and actionable information. They interface with business units (Finance, HR, etc.) across the ministry. They utilize their expertise to provide business insights, design and deliver reports and drive self-service reporting capabilities across the organization. The Senior Data Analyst is engaged in developing and promoting effective data governance through documentation and adherence of standards to ensure the information produced by the Analytics team is accurate and trusted as the source of truth.
Essential Job Functions
- Identifies and understands, as well as, acquires, merges, and transforms data from a centralized data warehouse.
- Partners with business unit teams to understand their operational needs, to recommend solutions, and ensure compliance with standards.
- Translates data needs of the business and work with data engineers or architects to build processes and tools that help automate effective data delivery and reduce resource utilization and redundancy.
- Engages in the overall data governance of the organization and takes an active role in the development, documentation, and on- going maintenance of a data governance operation.
- Develops effective auditing and validation processes between the source systems and the centralized data warehouse to ensure accurate and timely availability of data.
- Develops, tests, and delivers reports and extracts from the centralized data warehouse using appropriate BI tools.
- Investigates & designs best practices for solving technical problems.
- Mentors and coaches the broader Analytics Delivery team.
- Engages in coding to assist the team to develop the solution and solve all surfacing problems.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Math, Business, or Information Systems (required) and 5 years of related experience, a Master's degree and 3 years of related experience.
Additional Details
- 5 years' experience in a Business Analyst or Data Analyst role (required)
- 5+ years' experience in a Business Analyst or Data Analyst role at a healthcare provider (preferred)
