Job Overview:
As part of the PMO, the Sr. Data Analyst will develop and manage IT cost models, ensuring effective allocation, tracking, and reporting of IT expenses. Working closely with IT, finance, and business units, this role will align cost models with company strategy, optimize IT spend, and analyze trends to guide decision-making and budgeting for IT services, infrastructure, software, and cloud usage, driving cost-efficient and scalable technology investments for the CIO organization.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in financial analytics, IT cost modeling, and data-driven decision-making, with the ability to influence technology spending and optimization across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain detailed IT cost models that track costs for various IT services, applications, infrastructure, and operations.
- Collaborate with IT teams to allocate costs across departments, business units, and projects to ensure accurate distribution of IT expenses
- Perform variance and trend analysis on IT operational costs, identifying key cost drivers and opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements
- Assist in the development of IT budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and track variances between actuals and projections
- Collaborate with IT, procurement, finance, and vendor management teams to ensure accurate cost inputs and alignment with business goals.
- Create and maintain regular cost reporting, dashboards, and metrics to track IT spending, performance, and ROI. Present findings to senior leadership.
- Support IT financial planning by conducting scenario analysis and sensitivity assessments related to future technology investments.
- Create financial dashboards and reports for the CIO and senior leadership, highlighting cost trends, efficiency opportunities, and financial risks.
- Ensure that all cost models and financial data adhere to corporate governance, policies, and regulatory standards. Maintain comprehensive documentation of cost structures and methodologies.
- Analyze cloud usage data and provide insights on cost optimization strategies for cloud infrastructure and SaaS solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in financial analysis, IT cost modeling, or related roles, preferably within a CIO or technology-driven organization.
- Strong proficiency in financial modeling (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau), data analytics and IT cost management applications.
- Familiarity with IT cost structures, including cloud services, data centers, software licensing, and IT infrastructure.
- Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
- Understanding of cost allocation methodologies, chargeback models, and technology ROI calculations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to build and interpret complex financial models
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with IT financial management (ITFM) tools or enterprise financial systems (e.g., Netsuite, Apptio, SAP, Oracle).
- Knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) frameworks and technology lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with cloud financial management (FinOps) and automation tools for cost optimization.
