Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Corporate Legal Department is searching for an exceptional attorney who thrives in a collaborative team environment. This position is project-specific with the project’s timeline for the project running twelve months. Reporting to the SVP of Legal – Corporate & Distribution, this attorney’s project will be to serve as the primary Legal resource for Sony Pictures’ legal entity rationalization process. This attorney will advise throughout the entire process, from identifying subject entities to transferring assets (including intellectual property assets) and winding up and dissolving entities in a variety of jurisdictions. The successful candidate will be skilled at drafting, negotiating, and reviewing corporate and commercial documents, post-transaction integration and coordinating with other specialists, including Tax, Finance, Labor, and Intellectual Property. Experience with managing outside counsel in international jurisdictions is a plus. This attorney will also advise and work closely with colleagues in production, post-production, distribution, and marketing on a routine basis, as well as with colleagues in the Legal Department.
Based in Culver City, California, the successful candidate will have outstanding academic credentials and two to four years of commercial or corporate transactional experience with a major law firm or a sophisticated in-house legal department. Additional experience with the media, entertainment and/or technology industries is preferred but not necessary. Valuable areas of expertise include intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, complex commercial transactions, and experience in developing and implementing business processes. The successful candidate must be able to analyze a variety of legal issues, consider, balance and mitigate risks, synthesize complex information, and provide solution-oriented legal advice.
Requirements:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions transactional experience, knowledge of technology, services, and new media transactions

The anticipated base salary for this position is $180,000-$235,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
