Role

The Business Oversight & Reporting team is a rapidly expanding business within Accounting & Fund Services (AFS) area of Northern Trust with offices in Ireland, London, Guernsey, Luxembourg, Chicago, Australia, Bangalore and Pune.

The Business Oversight & Reporting Senior Consultant is a proactive role that is responsible for oversight of the business units within AFS. The Senior Consultant provides proactive leadership and guidance to partners to strengthen controls, assess and mitigate operational risk.

This IC role which reports to the AFS Business Oversight & Reporting Lead will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop knowledge and experience of a dynamic and varied environment of AFS.

Responsibilities

  • Drives engagement with stakeholders and perform risk analysis to identify priorities and key risk areas to perform proactive reviews independently to maintain quality levels & identify areas for enhancement. Provide recommendations & track implementation by the Business Units.

  • Ensure that current policies and procedures are in place (and are being followed) for business unit functions and are in compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Assess Operational readiness of the business unit’s ability to take on new clients, processes, or perform system migrations.

  • Lead innovation and develop process improvements to mitigate operational risk

  • Lead AFS wide initiatives to drive reduction of risk, process improvements and adherence to controls.

  • Perform proactive reviews on the processes undergoing Strategic Change

  • Perform Root Cause Analysis of incidents within the department and identifying trends and solutions.

  • Perform Trend analysis using metrics available leading to proactive mitigation of risk.  

  • Collaborate with Business Functions to assess the Business Continuity Plans (BCP), & identify gaps and deviation from BCP.

  • Track all review actions / reporting to Senior Management and plan effectively to meet the deadlines set

  • Articulate various Oversight Reports to ensure timely & effective communication to management.

  • Keep abreast of industry and regulatory developments that may impact the risk and quality of our service.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and engage stakeholders continuously. Through consultation improvise the process thereby reducing risk.

  • Employees are required to comply with the regulatory regime in which Northern Trust operates as appropriate to the above role

  • Employees are expected to exercise due care and diligence, ensuring the areas the incumbent is responsible for are organized and controlled

  • Employees are required to observe proper standards of market, business and personal conduct, demonstrating integrity in the execution of duties

Skills

  • Strong understanding of Risk Management and Control design & effectiveness

  • Understating of the Fund Accounting business including its strategic goals, associated products and supporting operational functions.

  • Knowledge of risk management techniques and proven ability to identify and asses risk in business processes, migration activity and new products.. Knowledge of Six Sigma & Agile or other Process Improvement methodologies in an added advantage. Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI & Word).

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices like CASS, IMR, AIFMD, FATCA, UCITS V will be an added advantage

  • Must be able to think creatively and possess strong trend & data analytical skills, reasoning skills, problem solving & project management skills.

  • Strong communication, presentation & negotiation skills are necessary to consult with partners/clients throughout the organization

  • Self-starter with the ability to function independently in a fast-paced, dynamic and demanding environment.

Qualifications:

  • Overall experience of 10+ years

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Accounting, Master degree/IAQ/IOC or equivalent a plus

  • Experience in Audit/Operational Control/ Risk or equivalent

  • Accounting / financial services/ capital markets work experience or equivalent

  • Should be flexible for shifts and extended working hours.

Eligibility - Internal Partners

  • 24 months as a Consultant to move as a Senior Consultant

Skills Required
