This position provides communications planning, writing, editing and channel management support for strategic priorities and initiatives that impact Thrivent’s ecosystem of financial advisors and field leadership. The incumbent blends strategic communications with a deep understanding of the financial advisor landscape to further Thrivent’s mission, drive business priorities, and support advisors in delivering value to their clients. Works independently, with key business partners and at the direction of Communications leaders to create and share communication through various communications channels.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Concepts, writes and edits articles, emails and other communications for multiple audiences, with a focus on topics related to financial advisors and wealth management.
- Provides field channel management as assigned, such as eNewsletters, online articles, corporate meetings, etc.
- Possesses and applies a deep level of understanding of the interests and motivators of a field sales force; positions communication to meet the content and information needs of receivers.
- Can effectively create communication for distribution in multiple channels, including channels for both field force and corporate employees.
- Develops communication plans, including detailed time and action plans, supporting specific field/distribution priorities and initiatives.
- Works independently, with key business partners and at the direction of communications leaders to create and distribute communications.
- Provides editing/proofreading support as needed to colleagues in the Communications division.
- Tracks team and individual performance measures and reports performance.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field required
- Extensive knowledge of the financial service industry and financial advisors
- Five years’ experience (minimum) in business communications or financial writing
- Strong writing, editing and communication management skills, with a focus on brevity and reader needs
- Experience in business/corporate communications and change management
- Excellent human relations skills, tact, good listening and consulting skills
- Strong communication skills, ability to present ideas well both in writing and verbally, with a focus on brevity
- Ability to work collaboratively across an integrated, matrixed communications team and across the organization
Preferred:
- Relevant licenses such as Series 7, Series 65, or Life and Health Insurance licenses are preferred, though not required. Candidates with these or similar certifications (e.g., CFP®, ChFC®, CFA®) will have an advantage, as they demonstrate a strong foundation in financial advisory services and a commitment to professional development
- Strong planning and implementation skills
- Knowledge of web and email publishing systems

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $67,369.00 - $91,146.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
