Purpose:
The holder of this position is responsible for the development and improvement of one or more operations or areas that impact one or more of the performance measures of the company. The Business Excellence Engineer Senior must possess an understanding of the strategies of the plant and must be capable of translating these strategies into measurable goals. The responsibilities will include establishing the bases for current conditions, communication / execute improvement projects. For this, the holder of the position will use JJPS tools, six sigma, lean manufacturing system, knowledge of products cost and must have experience in engineering.

In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
- Is responsible for the analysis and development of the strategic plan for the area or process in which he/she is involved.
- Is responsible for ensuring that the goals of his/her projects are aligned with the strategic plan of the plant.
- Is responsible for ensuring that the plans of the projects for the different areas / manufacturing plants and/or supply chain are finished at the established time and the previously established results are reached.
- Is responsible for recommending and implementing process changes that improve departmental safety, quality, cost and schedule, and contributes to critical projects, programs or processes for the Manufacturing Process Improvement area.
- Is responsible for integrating methods to continually improve the organization's Manufacturing Process Improvement strategy based on analyses of trends and the competitive landscape.
- Is responsible for oversees progress of new manufacturing process development and improvements to existing processes, with a focus on maximizing production capabilities and affordability.
- Is responsible for coaching more junior colleagues in techniques, processes and responsibilities.
- Is responsible for the updating of the performance measures system.
- Is responsible for the training about the system and change for the people involved in the different areas, manufacturing, supply change, materials, etc.
- Is responsible for the understanding of the Quality procedures, of the aspects of safety, Environment and Ergonomics that are necessary to comply with or implement during the project (GMPs, ISO, FDA, Internal Policies, etc.).
- Is responsible for ensuring the compliance, personnel and of the company, with all the regulations, policies and procedures through its processes, including Health, Safety, Environment and Ergonomics.
- Keeps optimal communication with the rest of the associated departments to obtain the biggest advantage of the improvements in the processes.
- Provides support to the display of JJPS, Six Sigma, PE and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
- Provides support for PE training, certification and recertification and savings if required.
- Supervision responsibilities: Can supervise, coordinate and technically check the work of the engineering technicians of Operational Excellence, estimates human resources needs, programs and allocates work to comply with the delivery dates. As a Process Excellence Engineer Senior, he/she can be supported by other engineers and technicians.
- Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
- Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.
- For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
- Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
- Performs other duties assigned as needed
Qualifications / Requirements:
Experience and education
- University bachelor’s degree in engineering, any specialization, preferred industrial engineer.
- 4 to 6 years’ experience in a similar position.
- Experience in medical devices Industries.
- Process Excellence: (SPC and DMAIC), knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, strategies development, Black Belt certification (can be candidate to be certified as Master Black Belt).
- Knowledge of materials systems, inventories and supply chain.
- Experience in different areas of the plant.
- Ability to establish PE (Six Sigma and lean manufacturing) as part of the culture in the organization.
- Experience in the management of Permanent Change
Required knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications/licenses and affiliations
- Strong knowledge of computer packages such as Excel, Access and PowerPoint. AutoCad and other similar software.
- Must possess demonstrated analytical capacity.
- Knowledge in Finances
- Bilingual English – Spanish
- Good interpersonal relations and ease of written and oral communication.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Must be perseverant: good follow up and project direction.
- Knowledge of Product Cost (Std Cost).
- Must understand and translate the needs of the client.
- Knowledge of Quality and Production techniques (CFM, JIT, TQM, etc.).
