Job Description
The Sr Manager Cross-Border will lead the development of Visa’s cross-border business and other strategic initiatives in the South Cone Countries and Brazil to grow international payments with issuers, merchant, acquirers, Fintech, and Payment Facilitator clients. The individual needs to be a strong leader who is proficient in building an effective strategy, able to expertly translate strategy into tactical execution, and adept at collaborating and building support of cross functional teams, inside and outside the region.

Be accountable for reaching cross-border targets by identifying new opportunities and risks, developing and executing plans that change the trajectory of growth, evolve our client relationships, and break through the constraints to generate tangible impact on Visa’s Cross-Border performance in the region.

Adapt the Global and Latin America and Caribbean cross-border payments strategy for the assigned Regions and develop tactical plans to achieve defined goals, design effective client relationships and business development strategies. Also share best practices and successful cross-border experiences with the rest of the region.

Responsible for executing the cross-border strategy through a close alignment with the local teams to maximize the potential of cross-border revenue growth in the South Cone Region.

Deeply understand the Cross-Border and FinTech trends across all payment flows (Travel, eCommerce, Remittance and B2B) to be confident in addressing banks and cardholders’ needs. Identify new capabilities to future-proof the business and develop go-to-market strategies.

Represent Visa in client discussions as the Cross-Border expert by partnering with Account Executives, working with issuing entities, merchants, acquirers, government tourism entities among other stakeholders to better understand their needs and identify potential collaboration opportunities.

Actively participate in client’s discussion to get a better sense of client’s demands, business objectives and challenges. Solve for cross-border related business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of issues, including value propositions, pricing, payment success, and emerging segments.

Understand the market dynamics, players, regulatory framework, competitive positioning and all the variables that needs to be consider for a successful execution of initiatives to drive cross-border payments growth.

Work in collaboration with cross-functional areas to enhance payment success rates for all stakeholders in the Cross-Border ecosystem (consumer, merchant, issuer, acquirer), making Visa the preferred method of payment, both Inbound and Outbound.

Develop a rigorous plan to achieve cross-border scorecard metrics and provide tools and support to the market teams for a successful achievement of such targets.

Build a strong pipeline and develop a rigorous and disciplined approach to ensure cross-functional prioritization and commitment for effective execution.

Develop clear and concise executive level communications. Communicate recommendations to senior management, other executive, functional, or regional staff in a clear, concise and impactful way.

Support Account Executives in cultivating and managing the subsequent pipeline of activity and revenue opportunities. Understand deal commercials to align investment and target the right opportunities.

Take proactive measures to knowledge share, coach, and train Sales and other functional teams in the Andean on activities related to Cross-Border growth.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA preferred
• 8 - 10 years of experience in highly successful businesses that have a strong track record of client service, strategic development and execution. Experience at a top-tier management consultancy and/or a solid track-record of operating in an in-house corporate strategy role, coupled with managing operations of a function or business unit is a strong plus.
• Extensive experience in either banking/financial services sector or Technology / FINTECH sector experience.
• Strong knowledge of payment industry products, services and technologies, eCommerce, mobile technology and Cross-Border business is a plus.
• Experience in client-facing roles, having led client discussions and solutioning engagements with multiple key stakeholders, ideally including financial institutions (banks), large retailers, multinationals, governments, local partners, etc.
• A proven track record of delivering high impact results working on projects in the areas of corporate strategy, growth initiatives and new market/segment/business strategies
• Global or multi-national business experience is preferred
• Ability to structure and manage complex cross-enterprise projects and processes with multiple stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility with senior functional and regional leaders within Visa. Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic and flexible.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen
• Superior problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
• Proactive and effective communicator. Experienced at presenting information to all levels, with ability to facilitate group discussions and debate and proven ability to influence and communicate effectively across geographic and functional lines
• Willingness to travel 40%+.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
