A Little About Us: 

Yahoo’s Global Network Infrastructure team is responsible for the core Network Infrastructure and shared services required to support all Yahoo services globally, such as our popular Yahoo Front Page, Sports, News, Finance and Weather media channels, advertising engines, video, search, and blogs.  

A Lot About You:

Yahoo's Global Network team is looking for a highly technical Senior Software Developer on the network automation team to drive programmability and the innovation of our 100+Tb global network. You will be a critical part of the team to bridge the gap and bring awareness between the network and application stack to increase network intelligence. 

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate within the rest of the Network team to assess critical challenges and identify opportunities to define future automation solutions for workflow optimization inside the Global Network team.

• Develop and enhance several large scale network automation platforms that support both our data centers and edge POP locations globally as well as supporting our properties in the cloud.

• Mentor and train team members on design techniques, and coding standards to help them grow their careers.

• Participate in an on-call rotation that handles escalations from our SRE team.

Required Qualifications:

• BS in Computer Science or related professional experience 

• 5+ years commercial programming/software engineering experience in any combination of Perl, Python or Golang.

• Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems.

• Experience in developing & debugging software and monitoring large scale distributed platforms.

• Knowledge of web frameworks such as Django.

• Experience with CI/CD deployment methodology and other common DevOps tools (i.e. Jenkins, Docker, Git, GitHub Actions)

• Experience with both SQL & NoSQL databases and similar big data technologies (Redis, ElasticSearch, Kafka)

• Experience with data analytics (i.e. Splunk).

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):

• Experience with orchestration frameworks such as Chef/CINC.

• Experience with containerization as well as with any of the public cloud providers (AWS/Azure/GCP, etc)

• Experience with PHP, node.js and CSS.

• Experience with TCP/IP & WAN/LAN concepts

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
