Accountabilities:
- Prepare Canadian income tax compliance in respect our entities, including preparing and reviewing corporate, partnership and trust income tax returns.
- Prepare Canadian commodity tax compliance in respect our entities, including preparing and reviewing monthly commodity tax returns.
- Prepare Canadian tax computations in respect of our entities, including preparing and reviewing annual adjustment cost base (ACB) computations.
- Prepare Canadian tax computations in respect of our entities, including preparing and reviewing annual safe income computations.
- Analyze, research, and document tax matters associated with the preparation of the above returns and computations.
- Assist in responding to tax audit queries including gathering the information required and compiling responses.
- Assist with document/data management by gathering and storing certain documents/data such as financial statements and legal agreements in standardized SharePoint sites.
- Assist with the update and maintenance of end user computing (EUC) lists.
- Assist with the development, coaching and training of staff members.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Completion of a professional accounting designation (or equivalent).
- Currently enrolled/interested in completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Course.
- 2-4 years of experience in Canadian taxation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple demands and competing priorities to achieve required results.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and also work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Passion for developing others and developing a high-performance culture.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience in SAP, Taxprep, SharePoint and/or Longview Tax is an asset.
