Sr. Accessibility Product Manager
Are you passionate about building accessible products that serve a diverse community of clinicians and healthcare professionals?
Do you thrive in leading complex, cross-functional programs that drive meaningful, measurable impact across a global product portfolio?
About the Role
In this role, you will lead the accessibility program for a broad portfolio of Clinical Solutions products, ensuring they meet evolving accessibility standards and support the needs of a diverse user base. You will set strategy, oversee execution, and guide teams to embed accessibility into product development practices. This position operates with high visibility and contributes directly to product quality, compliance, and customer trust.
Responsibilties
Own the Accessibility Program
Assess the current compliance posture, identify gaps, and drive the program from where it is to where it needs to be
Own conformance documentation (VPATs/ACRs) across all active products — ensuring everything is current, accurate, and ready for enterprise procurement
Partner with Legal on ADA Title III obligations, contractual commitments, and customer inquiries; be the person who knows where the risks are before they become escalations
Stay ahead of the legal and regulatory landscape — enforcement trends, emerging state statutes, and international equivalents for our global customer base
Drive Cross-Functional Execution
Build and maintain the portfolio-level remediation roadmap across a large suite of products spanning physician, nursing, specialty, and patient engagement categories
Work with product managers, engineers, and designers to embed accessibility into how we build — not as an afterthought audit, but as part of discovery, design, and delivery
Coordinate a distributed network of accessibility champions embedded in product teams; set direction, maintain standards, and keep execution coherent across teams
Own triage for incoming accessibility issues — from customers, audits, and legal — and drive them to resolution
Extend Coverage to Content
Accessibility at Elsevier isn't just about the UI layer — clinical content, educational materials, and PDFs all carry their own obligations
Work with content authoring teams to ensure alt text, captions, reading order, and PDF accessibility are built into how content is created, not fixed after the fact
Build Visibility and Capability
Define the metrics that tell leadership whether the program is working, and report against them consistently
Create the standards and guidance that raise baseline accessibility capability across product and engineering teams — reducing reliance on escalation
Be the authoritative voice on accessibility for Clinical Solutions; represent the program at the leadership level and in enterprise customer conversations
Requirements
6+ years in product management, with at least 2 years owning a digital accessibility or compliance program at a product-led company
Deep working knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2, Section 508, and ADA Title III as applied to web and mobile software products
Experience producing and defending VPATs / Accessibility Conformance Reports in an enterprise B2B context
Proven ability to inherit an existing program, assess its maturity honestly, and drive measurable improvement — you know how to make something significantly better without starting over
Experience coordinating distributed ownership models — you've worked across teams where you influence without direct authority
Technical fluency sufficient for credible conversations with front-end engineers on ARIA patterns, semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, and screen reader behavior
Experience navigating Legal stakeholders and accessibility-related procurement and contractual requirements
Strong Preference
Background in health tech, SaaS, or enterprise software with a large, heterogeneous product portfolio
Experience with content accessibility — alt text, closed captioning, PDF remediation, authoring tool compliance
Hands-on experience with assistive technology testing (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, ZoomText)
Familiarity with automated testing tooling (axe, Lighthouse, Pa11y) and CI/CD integration
Exposure to European Accessibility Act / EN 301 549 for international product lines
CPACC, WAS, or equivalent IAAP certification
