Under general supervision, this position directs and coordinates administrative functions for the Athletics Division.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in planning, assisting, coordinating, and evaluating of outdoor and indoor youth and adult athletic programs on a community wide basis.
- Create and maintain athletic schedules on a web-based application and operate the software registration system for the purposes of registration, rentals, reports, and revenue management
- Purchase a variety of supplies and materials.
- Assist in the preparation of the division’s budget through analysis considering historical and projected costs of athletic programs offered and to ensure a cost effective program is maintained.
- Perform a variety of administrative functions as assigned, including but not limited to, inventory control, procurement and payroll
- Audit youth leagues each season and report any policy variances.
- Answer questions and resolve complaints pertaining to athletic programs and policies from citizens to ensure good public relations.
- Assist in the hiring, training, and evaluating of sports officials, scorekeepers, and coaches that provide instructional services to the public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of various sports program rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of basic marketing and promotional strategies.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of administering athletic programs and events.
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of sports officiating on a local, state, and national level.
- Knowledge of budgetary principles as applied to athletics.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other city employees, athletic agencies and local citizens.
- Skill in advance usage of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, Publisher.
- Skill in communicating with other city employees and the public by oral and written means.
- Skill in office management principles.
- Skill in managing multiple tasks.
- Ability to determine customer needs and facilitate solutions to customer service requests
- Ability to operate a motorized vehicle
- Ability to lift and exert forces equivalent to 50 lbs
- Ability to perform a variety of physical skills, including but not limited to: seeing, sorting, carrying, filing, holding, squatting, standing, bending, stooping, walking and writing
- Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including but not limited to, a personal computer and associated software applications, calculator, telephone, fax machine, and copier.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and in an outdoor environment.
Qualifying Education and Experience:
- Associates Degree in Recreation Administration or related field, plus 1-2 years progressive experience in Youth and Adult Sports Programs OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Some supervisory experience required.
- Valid Texas Driver License, Class C.
- CPR certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment, and must be maintained during the incumbent’s employment duration in this position

Skills Required
