Specialist Software Engineer – Technology Enterprise Solutions, Data Platform & Tools.

We are seeking an experienced Specialist Software Engineer to support our Agile line within Technology Enterprise Solutions. This role will focus on driving the strategic direction and delivery of our Rules Management (IBM ODM).

Main Skillset:

  • Strong understanding of how IBM Operational Decision Management Development (ODM) works. A plus is to understand ODM system architecture principles.

  • IBM WebShpere Application Services (WAS), Java, Linux OS, Shell scripting, excellent documentation skills, excellent troubleshooting skills.

  • Develop scalable, reliable, and secure network infrastructures.

  • Proficient in rule development and deployment.

  • Solid knowledge of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and databases.

  • Strong problem-solving skill.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

  • Configure and maintain the rule execution server and decision center.

  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot issue in ODM environment.

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.

  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

  • Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

  • Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director. 

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree. 

Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence. 

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.

Working Conditions: Office environment may vary based on team and/or location. Associates may have on-call responsibility after normal working hours and/or on weekends.
