How You Will Contribute:

Ciena is hiring a motivated team member for our Quality Management System (QMS) team. Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Management Systems, you will support the development and compliance of industry standards. This includes ensuring process controls are aligned with evidence, conducting internal assessments, and supporting process improvement projects. You will work cross-functionally to review general and product development operations. Experience in aligning business operations with certifications, improving systems and processes, and managing documentation and audits is required.

What Ciena Expects of You:

  • Perform data mining and analysis to identify trends and metrics related to quality management processes. This includes utilizing tools such as Excel, Power BI, and databases.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in quality assurance and document control to boost efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Conduct regular quality audits to ensure compliance with internal procedures, relevant regulatory standards, and industry certifications.
  • Lead and support during external quality management systems audit.
  • Develop and report on key product and service quality metrics to drive continuous improvement and customer satisfaction
  • Stay current with evolving quality standards and regulatory requirements, making necessary adjustments to company processes to maintain alignment.
  • Ability to support the implementation, improvement, and maintenance of the Quality Management System
  • Assist in thorough investigation of quality issues and effective corrective and/or preventive action.
  • Understanding of product, hardware and software development methodologies and be able to audit against them and encourage process improvements within processes.
  • Participate cross-functionally to plan and formulate comprehensive business processes, supporting procedures and process improvements.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of company documentation, such as quality manuals, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Manage the document control process for all internal and external documents, ensuring timely review, approval, and distribution across relevant teams.
  • Effective communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills. High emotional intelligence, capable of collaborating and influencing across departments.
  • Ability to schedule and perform audit activities, including pre-audit planning, audit execution and evaluation, and post-audit follow-up and recommendations
  • Sound written and oral communication skills; and able to deliver clear concise information to a wide range of audiences

The Must Haves:

  • A four-year degree in Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management or Data Analytics is required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience supporting project management, technical support, business process improvement, or a Quality Management System
  • Internal Auditor or Lead auditor for TL9000 or ISO9001 Management Systems, preferably in the telecommunications or electronics industry.
  • Three to five years’ experience utilizing quality concepts, tools (Pareto, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Control Charts) and techniques (Six Sigma, Lean, Benchmarking, Root Cause Analysis) to drive continual improvement.
  • Critical problem solver and planner, with a strong attention to detail and ability to implement data-driven solutions.
  • Possess experience and aptitude in data manipulation and analysis using tools like Excel, Power BI, Share Pointe, and other databases.

  • Highly results-oriented, with the ability to prioritize and succeed in multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment, with virtual program teams and business partners on quality management systems or programs. High functioning ability in both face-to-face and remote-based interactions.
  • Experience managing change within an organization and the proven ability to influence others.
  • Strong international experience and ability to adapt to different cultures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, emotionally intelligent, with a strong ability to build productive working relationships to influence and motivate at all levels.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Assets:

  • Experience in a technology or telecommunications industry.
  • Working knowledge of Agile, PMO, and SDLC frameworks.

The annual pay range for this position is $100,100 - $159.900 USD.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
