About this opportunity:
The Senior Packet Core Operations Engineer is responsible for coordinating, managing and executing proactive and reactive maintenance activities requiring advanced support beyond 2nd Level Operations. The role ensures continuous availability and SLA-compliant performance of Packet Core services across GSM/GPRS/WCDMA/LTE environments, working with virtualized EPC platforms and multi-vendor equipment. The engineer will contribute to operational improvements, capacity and performance tuning, incident and problem management, and cross-domain integration to maintain high quality end-to-end Packet Core service.
What you will do:
- Provide advanced 2nd/3rd level support for Packet Core operations covering GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA and LTE technologies on virtual and physical platforms.
- Manage, coordinate and execute proactive and reactive maintenance activities to meet SLA objectives.
- Diagnose and resolve capacity, performance and reliability issues across Packet Core traffic.
- Assess the need for system reconfigurations, recommend changes, and implement configurations as required.
- Work closely with cross-domain teams to ensure seamless integration of Packet Core technologies into operational processes.
- Produce and present weekly and monthly operational reports; perform trend analysis to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Interface with internal teams (Technical Operations, SOC, IP/Backbone) and external vendor technical support to resolve incidents and implement upgrades.
- Lead and contribute to incident management, root cause analysis (post-mortem), and problem management activities.
- Perform system administration tasks required for Packet Core elements and support continuous monitoring and assurance activities.
- Provide input to process and tooling improvements, and share operational knowledge across the team.
The skills you bring:
- Strong knowledge of telecom operations practices and Packet Core architecture (vEPC, MME, SGW, PGW/EPG).
- Technical expertise in GSM/GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA/LTE packet core technologies.
- Experience working with multi-vendor platforms (Cisco, Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, ZTE) and familiarity with vendor toolsets and escalations.
- Network/IP knowledge (routing, switching, MPLS, bearer concepts) and experience with virtualization platforms.
- Problem solving, root cause analysis and performance tuning skills.
- Ability to analyze trends and produce clear operational reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Teamwork and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge sharing and mentoring capabilities.
- Customer-oriented mindset with focus on delivering results and meeting expectations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Packet Core operations and support.
