Are you highly organised, confident working with learner records and able to support apprentices, employers and colleagues with professionalism and accuracy? We are pleased to offer an opportunity to join our Workforce Skills and Employment curriculum as a Specialist Apprenticeship Support Officer, providing essential support for apprenticeship onboarding, compliance, learner progress monitoring and retention.

Our Workforce Skills and Employment provision is performing strongly, with apprenticeship recruitment above target, high in-year retention, and apprenticeship achievement well above provider type and national benchmarks. This role will play an important part in sustaining that performance by supporting accurate onboarding, timely progress monitoring and effective learner follow-up.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide specialist apprenticeship and learner support across the Workforce Skills and Employment curriculum. You will co-ordinate compliant onboarding, monitor learner progress, identify risks to retention and achievement, and help ensure that appropriate interventions are put in place at the right time.

  • apprenticeship applications, initial assessment and onboarding checks;
  • skills scans, Personal Learning Record checks, recognition of prior learning and eligibility evidence;
  • learner documentation, group profiles, curriculum records and approved management information systems;
  • scheduled progress reviews with apprentices and employers, including actions, milestones, support needs and off-the-job training.

The role will involve checking, maintaining and quality assuring learner documentation and records to support funding eligibility, GDPR compliance, audit readiness and accurate reporting. You will interpret learner information and progress evidence to identify eligibility, compliance, safeguarding, SEND, care experience or wider learner support concerns, taking action or escalating in line with service procedures.

Working closely with apprentices, employers, tutors, Trainer Assessors, Learning Development and Delivery Co-ordinators, Business Support and specialist service leads, you will help learners and employers understand programme expectations, responsibilities, milestones, next steps and available support.

To learn more about our provision, view our curriculum website here: Work Based Learning and read our independent ‘Excellent’ employer and apprentice reviews on the Apprenticeship Service.

An Adults and Children’s Workforce Enhanced DBS check with barred list check is an essential requirement.

For information on our approach to the recruitment of ex-offenders, please see our policy statement.

You will be able to provide accurate, learner-focused apprenticeship support, using sound judgement to interpret information, maintain compliant records, track progress and determine appropriate follow-up or escalation routes.

To apply for this post, you must have:

  • Level 2 English and mathematics, or equivalent, and confident digital skills, including use of Microsoft 365, SharePoint and management information systems.
  • Experience of checking, maintaining and quality assuring learner records, evidence or documentation against funding, audit, contractual or regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of administrative and compliance processes within education, training, adult learning, further education or apprenticeship provision.
  • Ability to support apprenticeship application, onboarding or enrolment processes, including checking documentary evidence and following up missing information.
  • Ability to use learner information, including initial assessment, skills scan or Personal Learning Record evidence, to identify learning, support, eligibility or compliance needs.
  • Experience of conducting, recording and following up learner or apprentice progress reviews, including agreed actions, milestones and support needs. Strong organisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple cohorts, deadlines, compliance requirements and progress review timescales.
  • Effective and tactful communication skills with learners, employers and colleagues, including where issues are sensitive or complex. Ability to travel to locations across Leicestershire and, where required, further afield to meet service need.

In addition, we also expect you to share our commitment to our values and to delivering accessible and inclusive services which meet the needs of all of our residents.  You will be asked to demonstrate your understanding of these commitments as part of the selection process.
