Function: Global Procurement - Packaging
Role Purpose
This role leads the sourcing of Rigid and Specialty Packaging across India and ANZ, with key focus on sourcing strategy development, packaging strategy execution, supplier management and contract negotiations. Leveraging in depth market insights and influencing internal and external stakeholders, the role is critical in meeting business productivity programs whilst ensuring supply continuity and sustainability agendas. The role partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders in R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Packaging Engineers, Quality and Finance to ensure the seamless implementation of sourcing decisions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sourcing Strategy Development & Execution
- Develop sourcing plans based on Business Unit needs and regional supplier landscape, with key categories under management including Rigid Plastics, Metals, Thermoforming, IML and Specialty Packaging.
- Develop and execute sourcing events (RFI/RFQ) using Mondelez e-sourcing systems
- Evaluate supplier quotations, cost models and total cost of ownership and prepare supplier recommendations.
- Support implementation of category sourcing strategies aligned to business and regional priorities.
- Maintain procurement documentation, pricing files, contracts, and supplier master data.
2. Contracting & Compliance
- Work in close collaboration with local BU procurement operations to ensure implementation of new contracts, and extended value generation to increase operational service levels.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, governance, audit standards, and supplier qualification requirements.
3. Supplier Relationship & Performance Management
- In line with defined Procurement strategy, support classification and categorization of suppliers, including definition of supplier evaluation and audit policies.
- Monitor supplier performance to meet OTIF / RFT target.
- Lead supplier development activities, including cross functional review meetings to drive performance and service levels
4. Value Creation: Productivity, Sustainability & Innovation
- Identify and support execution of productivity projects.
- Monitor cost trends, benchmark pricing and understand market and industry dynamics
- Work with project teams to support New Product Development and Packaging Reformulation Plans
5. Sustainability & New Material Transition Support
- Identify and support packaging sustainability initiatives (recycled plastics, lightweighting, alternative materials) in line with Mondelez Sustainability Goals
- Coordinate pilot projects, material trials, and supplier capability studies with R&D and technical teams.
- Track progress and enable execution of sustainability workstreams at the market level.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with:
- R&D and Packaging Engineering - qualification and technical testing
- Manufacturing & MSC - implementation and continuity
- Supply Chain Planning - lead-time and capacity alignment
- Project Commercialization Managers - NPD/renovation timelines
- Regional Procurement and Market Teams (India & ANZ) - alignment and compliance
- CPRM - Commodity Price Risk Management
- BU & Regional Finance - AC Planning, costings and productivity
Experience & Qualification Requirements
Education (Must-Have)
- Degree in Engineering (Packaging/Mechanical/Polymer/Chemical/Industrial) OR
- Degree in Supply Chain/Procurement/Commerce with strong packaging procurement experience.
Experience
- 3-7 years of procurement, sourcing, category management, or packaging vendor management experience.
- Experience working in FMCG, Food, Beverage, Pharma, Consumer Goods, or closely related supplier ecosystems.
- Exposure to packaging manufacturing is strongly preferred
