Job Description
The Sourcing Engineer sources and procures direct materials, components, and manufacturing services to support new product development requirements. You will focus on supplier development, cost optimization, localization, supplier performance, and ensuring material availability while maintaining quality, delivery, and compliance with company standards.
As a Sourcing Engineer, you will be part of the Procurement team, reporting to the Sourcing Manager and follow a onsite working schedule in India Kancheepuram.
Your Responsibilities:
- Source and procure direct materials, components, and manufacturing services.
- Evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and technical capability.
- Prepare RFQs, evaluate quotations, and negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms.
- Support new product development (NPD), supplier selection, tooling, and PPAP activities.
- Promote supplier localization and cost reduction programmes.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve quality and delivery issues.
- Support global sourcing activities and ensure material availability.
- Maintain procurement records and ERP/SAP data while ensuring compliance with company policies.
The Essentials – You Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Production Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 6–8 years of experience in procurement, or supplier development within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on Expertise in supplier sourcing, RFQ management, cost analysis, and commercial negotiations.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, PPAP, and APQP.
- Proficiency in ERP/SAP.
The Preferred – You Might Also Have:
- Expertise in sourcing sheet metal, fabricated, machined, electrical, and plastic components.
- Exposure to global sourcing and international supplier management.
- Knowledge of localization, value engineering, supplier audits, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Familiarity with digital procurement tools and supplier performance management.
- Negotiation and communication.
- Collaboration and partner management.
