Position Summary: Provides ultrasound evaluation/ sonograms and training for new hires in ultrasound/ sonogram services as an integral part of the health care delivery team. Provides additional support as a health center assistant during any sonogram downtime and as needed during patient services as assigned by Health Center Manager or on-site Clinician. Essential Functions: • Performs ultrasound evaluation on all clients prior to a termination of pregnancy. • Assists the physician, in the procedure room, when requested. • Performs sonograms following a termination of pregnancy as required. • Performs sonogram evaluation for the prenatal clients for dating and position only. • Provides training and retraining in ultrasound evaluation services / sonogram provision and any other work activities associated with the role of sonographer to any PPHP staff as directed by supervisor. Non-essential Functions: • Provides reassurance and information to the client during the sonogram. • Performs other duties as assigned. • Supports and encourages a culture that: o Provides a rich conduit of information and ideas between sites and other PPHP departments; o Participates in ongoing feedback with colleagues; o Incorporates customer satisfaction into all aspects of the work; and o Encourages Team to take responsibility for evaluating and improving systems. • Demonstrates flexibility and teamwork; understands the interaction between this position and others with whom the position works directly and indirectly. • Ensures that interactions incorporate PPHP values of integrity, partnership, customer focus, communication and quality. • Supports effort of the PPHP’s diversity program to provide services that are culturally and linguistically competent; takes the initiative to develop own awareness and knowledge of diversity matters. • Completes all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies and standard practices in the areas of customer service, quality assurance and regulatory compliance programs such as PPHP Manual of Medical Standards and Guidelines, HIPAA (Health Information Portability & Accountability Act), OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) and CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Administration) and Title X. •
Qualifications: Experience, Education and Licensure • Ability to perform ultrasound evaluation and provide sonogram services; must have skills that will allow them to receive Medical Director sign off of ultrasound/ sonogram skills within 2 weeks of onboarding process. • Excellent interpersonal skills. • Ability to work as a team. • Commitment to the goals of Planned Parenthood.
