Role Overview

The Solution Lead designs and governs end-to-end business and technology solutions that support Howden’s client and colleague journeys across Sales, Service, Operations, Marketing, and Client Management. The role acts as the senior solution design authority for Salesforce and the broader platform ecosystem, including Applied EPIC, Document Management, SharePoint, AI native platforms, Zywave MiEdge, client and colleague portals, and future enterprise applications.

This person bridges business strategy and technical execution by partnering with business leaders, product managers, architects, engineering teams, vendors, and operations stakeholders to define scalable designs, future-state experiences, integration patterns, data standards, and adoption-focused solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Build, Salesforce Leadership & Journey Enablement

  • Design end-to-end business and technology solutions across Howden’s strategic platforms, translating objectives, journey maps, and product requirements into scalable designs.

  • Lead solution workshops, evaluate design tradeoffs, and recommend approaches that balance business value, user experience, scalability, and implementation complexity.

  • Serve as lead solution designer for Salesforce Financial Services Cloud, including data models, business processes, automation, reporting, user experience, and platform roadmap evolution.

  • Design capabilities that improve prospecting, acquisition, servicing, retention, pipeline management, collaboration, and colleague productivity.

  • Build solutions, APIs, configure Salesforce environment to suit business process across all groups.

Enterprise Integration, Data & Ecosystem Design

  • Define integration solutions across Salesforce, Applied EPIC, document platforms, SharePoint, Zywave MiEdge, AI native platforms, portals, and future enterprise applications.

  • Establish system interactions, data ownership, synchronization strategies, APIs, event-driven patterns, and workflow orchestration standards.

  • Define logical data models, data quality standards, governance expectations, and consistent management of accounts, prospects, clients, policies, opportunities, activities, documents, and relationships.

  • Partner with architecture, engineering, analytics, and data teams to ensure secure, scalable, maintainable solutions that support reporting, insights, AI, and operational decision-making.

Vendor Evaluation, Delivery Partnership & Governance

  • Evaluate new technologies, vendor solutions, proof-of-concepts, and capability assessments against business objectives, integration needs, operational impacts, and enterprise standards.

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, Developers, QA, Operations, and vendors throughout discovery, design, build, testing, release, and post-launch optimization.

  • Review requirements, user stories, process designs, technical specifications, and delivered solutions to ensure alignment to business outcomes and experience goals.

  • Establish reusable design standards, reference architectures, solution playbooks, governance artifacts, and documentation for processes, integrations, data flows, and solution decisions.

  • Work collaboratively with global engineering teams to ensure continuous delivery is aligned with the design principles.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field.

  • 8+ years in solution architecture, business architecture, CRM platforms, enterprise technology delivery, or related roles.

  • Deep Salesforce experience, including Financial Services Cloud, Service Cloud, platform automation, reporting, integrations, data models, and AI-enabled capabilities.

  • Experience integrating Salesforce with agency management systems, document platforms, marketing technologies, telephony, and operational applications.

  • Strong understanding of APIs, middleware, event-based architectures, workflow orchestration, data modeling, master data management, governance, and enterprise information architecture.

  • Proven ability to lead workshops, requirements analysis, design sessions, agile planning, backlog refinement, and stakeholder alignment.

  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Salesforce certifications such as Administrator, Platform App Builder, Sales Cloud Consultant, Service Cloud Consultant, Application Architect, or System Architect.

  • Experience with Applied EPIC, insurance brokerage platforms, enterprise architecture frameworks, modern integration platforms, AI-enabled workflows, automation, or intelligent document processing.

  • Experience in Insurance Brokerage, Employee Benefits, Property & Casualty, Private Client, or Financial Services.
