Job Summary

The Solution Engineer will be responsible for guiding prospective Bread Financial merchants toward a best-in-class payment solution experience. Solution Engineers at Bread are at the forefront of our growth and play a pivotal role in the acquisition and growth of Bread’s business by leading prospective and current clients through the benefits of partnering with Bread. Solution Engineers are E2E experts in the Bread business and pride themselves on their deep understanding of the Bread business and their assigned problem.


 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Be an expert on Bread’s platform capabilities, APIs, and the integration pathways with Bread as well as on top Technology Platforms (Commerce, CRM, & ERP).

  • Support Sales in determining the right integration pathway for a prospect - plugin, partner solution, or custom integration and develop supporting pitch materials.

  • Lead Pre-sales discussions with prospective Merchants, selling them on the technical aspects of Bread’s payment solution.

  • Work with Enterprise Merchants to map Bread’s payment solution to their business process, ensuring a best in class customer journey and capability set.

  • Document the needs of the merchant into a solution design and lead the realization effort alongside Success & Integrations

  • Approve the technical specification of integrations built by Merchants with the understanding of how they interact with the Bread platform.

What we are looking for:

  • 5+ years of partner/sales engineering, software engineering, professional services engineer product management, developer advocacy or related experience.

  • 2+ years of experience within the retail vertical, payments platforms, or commerce eco-systems.

  • Experience working with customers and/or partners in a customer-facing solution development role.

  • Highly skilled at socializing business opportunity at all levels of the organization through both written presentation and compelling storytelling.

  • Strong understanding of API’s, and ability to read and internalize technical documentation.

  • Experience building integrations and with code-level debugging with large customers.

  • Be comfortable talking about technical concepts and explaining how they work, both from a product feature and API architecture perspective.

  • Ability to work as part of a team to solve business and technical problems, and step into leadership when and where required.

  • Solid verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong project management and time management skills, and ability to quickly pivot across projects.

  • In addition to being technical, you have the ability to connect with people. Folks tell you you’re a good listener, and you make everyone in the conversation feel included.

  • You love working on both program and relationship management, and you’ve been told you excel at each.

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements: 

  • Normal office environment.

  • Some travel may be required.

  • This position is hybrid with an onsite schedule of 3-4 days per month. In-office requirements are subject to change based on business needs. This position is currently available to candidates that reside within 60 miles of Columbus, OH; Chadds Ford, PA; Plano, TX; Draper, UT; Wilmington, DE or New York, NY.

Minimum Qualifications: 5 years of work experience

Typical Starting Range:

$97,900.00 - $177,400.00

Full Salary Range for position:

California: $112,600.00 - $221,800.00Colorado: $97,900.00 - $186,300.00New York: $107,700.00 - $221,800.00Washington: $102,800.00 - $204,000.00Maryland: $102,800.00 - $186,300.00Washington DC: $112,600.00 - $204,000.00

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.

Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.

All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates (except those located in Illinois) receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time (“PSST”) upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois associates receive 40 hours of Illinois PSST upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year and 40 hours of Illinois Paid Leave upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois Paid Leave must be used before associates in Illinois will be approved to take FTO.

Hired associates will be able to elect the purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
